Thank you for the great plugin and also for your kind suggestion.
I’m new to WP so everything it’s difficult and sometimes magic. I was used with Drupal so I make a workaround whenever possible.
I used my FTP and downloaded in my local machine the folder created from your plugin in wp-content

Solved!!! I used the Appearance>Header and uploaded 6 custom pictures in the size required and it brought up a new random group options.
They are stored in wp-content > upload so they are not affected by automatic update.
I created a child theme of twenty eleven to be more sure not deleting in case of upgrading.

Thank you very much, I will keep this information in a safe place and anyhow I think it’s a wise idea to make a backup always before any update.

I had understood it from other posts but my doubts were also if in case of updating WP the pictures could be erased. From your reply

I suppose that updating the wp core doesn’t affect these pictures, is it true?
