It can but you need to let us know what your stylesheet looks like. Is it defined as a background image to one of your div tags? If so which one?

The problem is two-fold. WordPress inserts <p> ... </p> around your post (do a “view source”). Your CSS needs tweaking to fix this, first for your paragraph tag and also for the icon, which should be layout: inline. Hope that’s hint enough.

I suspect that’s because on every other page you are viewing index.php however when you are looking at an individual post you are looking as comments.php (I think that’s the one). Anyway, you may have to change something there.

Not bad at all. Mind you, the greeny-yellow background clashes a bit with the brushed-aluminium header. Try and coordinate that better. Those photos are all compressed by the browser and look horrid, make thumbnails and put them in a table rather than flowing down the page, it took me 10 seconds to realise that there wasn’t a layout problem. I’d reduce line spacing a bit, compared to font size its hard on the eyes.

Thanks for the suggestion but I found the answer :

My wp_posts.post_status table column did not have a ‘static’ enumeration.

Once I added that to the list it worked fine.
