Also the page now seems to load in a weird order, where the page content loads before the header.

Just a quick question for you and I will certainly help to get you baking!Just saw this.

Since we edited my site,it has now developed a strange anomaly where when loading on a mobile the page loads half way down the page rather than from the top…so you have to scroll up to the top of the page every time a new page loads.I’ve been trying to get to the bottom of this but can’t work it out.I’m assuming that it must be to do with the order the scripts are being called?

I think I’ve grasped that just about.Wouldn’t it also work to:

1.dequeue parent theme function.js as very first thing.
2.enqueue child-theme function .js

It’s crazy how much Javascript and code is required to just toggle a menu botton.I still don’t understand why in this day isn’t some simple way in html/css nowadays to simple have a toggle button which just displays or not displays a div which contains the ul nav menu and do this in 3 lines of code.

what was the main issue here and I’m a little lost as to how it was resolved…

You seemed quite keen to crack this nut!Obviously no the menu is in completly the wrong place now and it has lost it’s formatting,but the menu doesn’t appear in the footer still so that’s good.On the right track

ok now the toggle is ‘toggling’ again..but still no nav menu

I have now pulled in the original untouched footer.php,still the toggle isn’t working.

Would you like me to put the footer code in a pastebin?

I see,if I recall I did edit the footer also,as by default on twenty sixteen the toggled menu also appears in the footer….
