i see. what’s the best way you have done in the past to share your website with a client?

Hi @fierevere . but that;s the thing i do not want to make it public. it’s a private project. say you just want to share a website with a client. how can you do so?

Sorry, I didn’t add a little bit more elaboration. So what I want is to be able to add more product categories to the list instead of just one showing all of its products. Just like in the second screenshot. Example Shop by category: 1.dark choc 2.milk choc 3.white choc 4.mixed choc. So all 4 categories displayed in the product section and when clicked will take you directly to its page.

How can I do this please? thank you all for your time and help.

    @fierevere

If you are going to override only small pieces of theme CSS – just use the above thing.

could you elaborate what are the type of small changes? would this include like adding new fonts, changing of colors?

The things is i keep reading that people are recommending to create a child theme if you want to make changes. So that’s why i’m checking this information.

@joyously thanks for the explanation. the reason i’m asking this question in relation to localhost is because i’m trying to create a site using localhost. so i need to know this information before going further like is it really necessary to create a child theme in this process. all this is very new to me and i’m just trying to get more information.

Thanks @fierevere .is this the only way?

I still need answers to my other questions please anyone:
    1.using localhost has limited features?
    2. how can we create these same features like using a Hero block for example? (besides installing Jetpack)
    3. And once created, when I upload the website live, will there be any problem as it wasn’t an element that was part of the block editor??

I’m using the MAMP software (the one with the elephant). How different is this from the one you are using? Or does it really matter?

Once im ready to publish my website, how can I do this? ( Is just by purchasing the domain and hosting plan?) Like will all my media and content will be uploaded automatically?

    Thank you.

Hey @sterndata thanks for the reply. I’m using the MAMP software (the one with the elephant). How different is this from the one you are using?

But what i’d really like to know is that it’s ok for me to go ahead and design my website using a local server until i’m happy and already getting the hang of WP.org before purchasing a domain and a hosting plan?? Is this like a commun practice? Because i know normally people start off by purchasing a domain and hosting plan immediately and then start building their website.

2ndly, is there any difference when designing the website using a localhost than paid host? (i know you are offline, and no one can access your site, etc) But like is there anything that might hinder certain features from functioning using a localhost?

Sorry for the long questions, it’s just that i’m totally new at this. Thank you.
