In reply to: Upgrading to 2.9Yewsef,
If you upgrade, first back up and test on a separate site.
Better however, not to upgrade. I did not do these things and now I am in a fix.
WP 2.9 has a host of bugs, it should never have been released, in my opinion! It should have remained in beta testing…

In reply to: Subscibe2Yes, I have a very similar problem.
Actually no more twice daily digests where being sent.
I had to switch to single post notifications.
The time scheduled for a post to be sent was indicated as a day behind actual blog time.
At the subscribe forum they said that the pseudo-Chron might be failing.
I noticed that others had issues with chronology also in WP. 2.9, like I do.
Seems 2.9 might have a cron problem.
In sum, switch to notifications for each post, and that worked for me.
I have not tested the subscription problem, perhaps you can explain, as I definitely want to avoid that too.

In reply to: WP 2.9 image insertion no longer allows url to off site resourceNo, I am not using the gallery feature to display images in my posts.
When you say,
“however, if I change the link URL, then click “Insert into Post”, it will correctly insert the link. Are you using the gallery feature at all? “
do you mean I have to go to the Media Library and change the URL there?

In reply to: WP 2.9 image insertion no longer allows url to off site resourceThe automatic link which appears is in this format:
https://www.domainname.com/?attachment_id=####

<a rel="attachment wp-att-°°°°" href="https://www.domainname.com/?attachment_id=####"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-####" title="name of file" src="https://www.domainname.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/nameoffile.gif" alt="" width="XXX" height="YYY" /></a>

In reply to: WP 2.9 image insertion no longer allows url to off site resourceOK. please understand I am no expert.
When using the What you se what you get editor for writing a post, I press the insert image button and upload an image.
There then appears an image insertion dialogue box and this contains various settings, one of which is the link for the image.
In 2.8.6, you could put an offsite link in that line-box. Now there automatically appearas a link to the image attatchment.
I looked everywhere for a line where I could put an offsite link, and tried to replace the link attachment since that box is where the offsite link went before hand.
But when I do the image insert and then press update the post, the old image attachment local url replaces my edit. And the image when clicked by my readers leads to the image on my site, not to the off site source.

In reply to: Automatic image url linking and size proposal in 2.9I have a similar issue.
When I upload it puts the source of the image file on my server as the automatic link.
But if I remove it and want to put a url to an offsite source, say the source where I copied the image from, when I press update the file, WP returns the original automatic link and erases my edit of the off site url…
This worked fine in 2.8.6…why an update has to move us backwards, I don’t understand…

In reply to: WP 2.9 updateI seriously would recommend holding off on upgrading to 2.9; I did not follow my better judgement, and did, and I am now in a fix…because I lack the technical expertise to address each issue..

In reply to: New Media features not appearingI see the new controls, they appear immediately after pressing the upload image button.
But I heard that if you had the Scissors plugin loaded in 2.8.6 you have to deactivate that beforehand…I did, and have no problems in that regard, though there are other bugs in 2.9

In reply to: [Plugin: Really Simple CAPTCHA] Captcha images disappearing with WP 2.8.1I use RS Captcha 1.1 and Contact 7 plugins in my theme with wordpress 2.8.6
I created several forms with captcha requirements in Contact 7 and put them into pages.
The captcha images do not appear at all.
I gather from the posts above the problem may be the directory problem.
So I deinstalled the RS Captcha plugin, modified the directory setting under Settings>Miscellaneous of the WP interface, reinstalled the RS Captcha plugin, and even deactivated and reactivated the Contact 7 plugin: still no captcha images appear, so I gather that I must tell my web man to make the wpcf7_captcha folder writable….
It would be good to let WP 2.8.6 users know about all these issues from the start…if it works, I’ll let you know…
