In reply to: [Post Kinds] Gutenberg support?David, now that WP 5.0 is out, do you have any projections on when Post Kinds may work on Gutenberg? What obstacles are you facing? Will this require turning each post-kind into a block type?
I gather from the 3.1.4 release announcement that it won’t hurt to have the plugin activated with Gutenberg, but that if we want to use post kinds, we should use Classic Editor for now. Is that correct?
Thanks!

In reply to: Scaled, bloated photosIn hopes that more people might see this than when I posted two weeks ago, I offer an update.
I’m still having this problem in WordPress 4.3.1. The theme has been updated twice since the issue arose.
Happy to answer any questions, or pursue any possible solution.
Thanks!

In reply to: Permission Issue Updating to 3.7.1Further investigation into this pointed to a hosting issue. Permissions were properly set on the folders (to 755), but permissions on wp-trackback.php were somehow set by the host to 000. Whenever we tried to change the permissions on the file, it immediately reverted back to 000 (I’d save the updated permissions, then refresh the browser window. The file permissions went back to 000).
I informed tech support, who reported back that he had changed ownership of the file to our user account, and permissions back to 644. WordPress update completed normally!

In reply to: Permission Issue Updating to 3.7.1@kmessinger I will double-check the folders, but pretty sure they are set that way.

In reply to: Fatal Error and WordPress 3.7 Installation Fail.I am having a similar problem updating https://www.stc-wi.org to 3.7.1. Here’s my update results:
Downloading update from https://www.ads-software.com/wordpress-3.7.1-no-content.zip…
Unpacking the update…
Verifying the unpacked files…
Preparing to install the latest version…
The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.: wp-trackback.php
Installation Failed
As with CNHub (though a different referenced file), wp-trackback.php had 0-0-0 permissions. At first, I couldn’t change the permissions on my host, but tech support updated CPanel and changed the permission on this file to 644. Still no update. I can still access the dashboard, etc.
I had no trouble updating https://www.michaelmccallister.com from 3.70 to 3.7.1. Could there be a theme/plugin issue?
Any advice appreciated. My support ticket at Lunarpages is still open too, if I need to get more info there.

In reply to: XAMMP WPMU Sub-blog issueYes, I’ve been fighting with this issue for a few days as well. I am tempted to go back to 3.4 for my test bed, but not sure that works either. What’s interesting in the error message is the “cannot map GET…” sentence. Is this coming from the database? There is no subfolder in my XAMMP tree (nor would I necessarily expect one).
One possible piece of the puzzle for those who may know more about Apache servers: the Apache Wiki “List of Errors” page says this is what AH00127 is: “Buggy authn provider failed to set user for %s”
Another possible piece of the puzzle: This thread from StackOverflow suggests that changing a setting in the “new XAMMP Security Concept” section of xampp-httpd.conf may help too: “I am guessing it has something to do with the new XAMPP Security Concept. My best answer to this would be to change the Deny to Allow in that section of your httpd-xampp.conf file.”
I hope this helps others troubleshoot.
