Could you please clarify, HandySolo?

I’m simply seeking advice to help resolve a wp issue. If you have some meaningful advice to offer I would be very grateful but please refrain from the hostility. Thank you.

I attempted to install wp-cache and received this error message:

advanced-cache.php link does not exist
Create it by executing:
ln -s /home/mac/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/wp-cache/wp-cache-phase1.php /home/mac/public_html/blog/wp-content/advanced-cache.php
in your server

Cannot continue… fix previous problems and retry.

Our server admin has said that wp has poorly designed tables which is causing this overload issue and has suggested either reducing or merging the number of queries for better designed mySQL tables. Is this just an issue with wp 2.1+

thank you for the advice. before I install the plugin, I read that wp 2.1.2 has an inbuilt caching feature that needs to be disabled before installing wp-cache. Is that correct?

my website keeps crashing and the admin of my dedicated server simply says the blog is overloading the server. i should add, i’ve received no increase in traffic since upgrading to wp v2.1.

thanks for the confirmation samboll. looks like i’m stuck with v2.1. yes it still does it with the wp v2.1.1 upgrade.

They tell me my dedicated server is being “overloaded” by my wp blog v2.1. the odd thing is i get no more visits than last year when there was no issue.

When you say “a badly configured database query cache could drastically affect performance too.” is that an issue with wp or something my server admin should be able to resolve?
