In reply to: StumbleuponWhat do you mean by “redirected site?” When I’m clicking the stumbleupon link it takes me to their website, should it behave differently?
There is also a plugin called VelvetBlues replace URL you can use to update the old URLs to the new URL: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/velvet-blues-update-urls I only check the first 3 or 4 boxes depending on what I’m changing.

In reply to: Reload old blog?If you’re using phpMyAdmin, you can import it in using the import tool after having opened the database. If you’ve just recovered the MySQL database but its named differently, you’ll need to edit wp-config.php to match.

In reply to: viewing published page results in "test" pageYour site is currently looking like WordPress, and the wp-admin also pulls up. You might try contacting their support to see where your files are located or where that test page is pulling from.

In reply to: Import error messageOn Bluehost, you can also raise the post_max_size and upload_max_filesize in the php.ini. This will allow for larger uploads. If you don’t know where its at, go to your cPanel > advanced section > php config > switch to php5 single ini. It will then be in your public_html.

In reply to: Addon Domain troubleDid you create a new database, and then import the old one from HostGator into Bluehost? You would need to do that for it to work correctly. You may also need to edit site and home URLs in the database or use velvetblues plugin to update the URLs.

In reply to: 404 Error: Can't figure out how to create a multi site network!I just got it up and running on my site. There are several configs you’ll need to make sure are done when using Bluehost.
1. Make sure WordPress is installed on the ‘domain.com’ version and not the ‘www’ version.
2. Also, be sure that there is not a conflicting .htaccess in the directory above, as you’re using an add-on, it will inherit the parent folder’s .htaccess, so you’ll have to either rename it or do some custom coding.
3. When you make the wildcard subdomain, you’ve got to make sure the root or directory is the same directory as the root of your Network Main site. For example, if your main domain is domain1.com and the add-on is domain2.com, and within public_html/domain2/ then your wildcard subdirectory should be public_html/domain2/ when you create the wildcard subdomain. This is working on the subdomain, it just took some wrestling. ??
Awesome! I’m sure they can figure something out. Good luck!
I host a few sites on Bluehost and mod_rewrite is enabled, as well as mod_deflate.
However their support says that compression will only run using mod_deflate as resources allow, that their is no end-user control. I use Bluehost for my WP sites, and I haven’t seen any issues with caching.Forum: Networking WordPress
In reply to: Subdirectory Site in Multisite Not Showing Theme StylesYnattirb, I checked your urls and they looked solid. Do you get any errors now?
jmccormick626, you still seeing any wonky errors after taking Ipstenu’s advice? I’m curious to see how this works out on Bluehost. I’m starting multi-site soon, so any advice ya’ll can give me on how you set it up on Bluehost would sure help! Thanks!I’ve noticed with different sites I host on Bluehost, that the best plugin is the Mail From plugin, but you’ve got to make sure the email exists in the control panel. https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/mail-from/ This plugin only makes the email come from a different address than the default server one. That may fix it. I’d like to know the result, if you don’t mind posting.
If you’re name servers are pointing to GoDaddy, and you then point them to Bluehost, when you visit your domain, it will bring up what you have at Bluehost. If you want to keep what you have working for the time being at GoDaddy, and then build your site out on the sub domain, then just point the sub domain’s A record to Bluehost. You’d have to contact Bluehost to get your IP address unless you already have it, and they can explain how to set that up with GoDaddy so that only the subdomain part will point to Bluehost.
Are the name servers pointed to the bluehost name servers? If so, you might contact support to see what they can do to help get that one sorted for you.
Did you create a subdomain first in their cPanel? Usually you’ll have to do that and then in their auto-installer there should be an option to select the subdomain you just created.
