In reply to: Subdomain for site1 (not for the network main one)Hi again, Miro!
Part of your question has been answered in the other post of yours. Please have a look – https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/change-domain-on-a-wp-multisite-subdomain-installation?replies=2#post-6388354
Yes, it is possible. After you’ve installed the Domain Mapping Plugin, you’ll be able to add different sites under the
Domains
section of the plugin.Forum: Networking WordPress
In reply to: Change domain on a WP multisite subdomain installationHi Miro,
Welcome to the WordPress Forums!
Yes, using and configuring a Multsite Network is very easy. A little work is involved, but that’s only once. WordPress Multisite will allow you to create as many sites as you wish under the same dashboard. It will use a common database for all of them. So while taking backups, no extra work would be involved. Instead you will save a lot of time if you use the same theme/plugin on many different sites.
We think you have done a one click installation of WordPress and chosen
allow mulitsite
.If not, here’s how you Create Your Own Network of WordPress sites.
After you’ve allowed multisite, you will only be able to create
Sub-domains
orSub-directories
. To enable/use another site which is not a sub-domain, you will have to use the WordPress MU Domain Mapping Plugin. You can download it from the WordPress Plugin Repository.
After downloading it follow these instructions to install it.
Take special note of this point.
If you are using CPanel, use the Park a Domain menu to set the mapped domain to your main installtion.
Here’s an additional guide with illustrations for installing the same plugin.
If you get stuck, don’t mind to post again.

In reply to: Solution for multisite? or a problem? We currently don’t have the expertise to answer all your questions. We’re beginners yet. But we will try to answer all which we can.
Is this something I should have done at the beginning of site creations? Or if I have 50 in a database now, can I separate those somehow?
You sound like you are a power user. Yes, you can separate them. The plugins mentioned can help you with that.
I was thinking that the multiple databases would allow for ease on the one db. But also I am having the simple profile issues that I did not notice before, and I am looking for a way to separate the profiles but keep the users connected to all sites, while still keeping all the other same connected features,
If handling multiple databases is all you are looking for, then this will help.
You may wait for someone else to answer the rest of your questions.
Or you may go to this site as it is mostly used by power users. And since your question is database specific you may choose to post it at the Database Administrators forum.
You’re welcome and happy new years to you too!

In reply to: Error establishing a database connection“Error establishing a database connection”
This is a very common error. It occurs when:
? the database doesn’t exist
? the content of the filewp-config.php
is incorrectPlease make use of the following codex page – https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Editing_wp-config.php#Default_wp-config-sample.php
Refer this page and review every single step while configuring the
wp-config.php
file. You don’t need to go beyond the ‘security keys’ section. And note that one mistake, like a missing single quote, or an extra space (made by the keyboard spacebar) may cause such errors.Forum: Networking WordPress
In reply to: Solution for multisite? or a problem?I am just thinking if you could possibly run a multisite network with 1,000,000 sites
1,000,000 sites? That’s a huge number. Well, by default, WP Multisite uses a single database across all the sites. This usually works for everyone. If it’s a large enterprise you’re talking about, where the databases are really huge, then consider using a DB shard.
