Can you please download an updated copy of the plugin from our site and try it then let me know if this makes any difference on your site?

If you want to try this update, first delete the currently active copy of the plugin then upload and activate the above mentioned one. You won’t lose any data (members, payments, buttons, settings etc.) in the process so it is safe to do this.

Which theme are you using?
Can you share a screenshot showing the protection settings section of the page just before you hit the save/publish button?
This happens only for a new membership level that you have created. If you select one of the levels created earlier, you don’t see this issue right?
One other question, do you see any error in the server’s error_log file when it fails to save?
Can you please deactivate and re-activate the Simple Membership plugin (to make sure any outstanding database upgrades are taken care of)? Then try the test again to see if any improvement.
Sidenote: It is safe to temporarily deactivate the plugin and reactivate it. You won’t lose any data in the process.

It generates a unique ID to use as the prefix. Using a static string would not ensure uniqueness.
The addon includes a filter hook that allows you to customize the prefix to suit your needs, rather than using the new option in the addon.

We have added a settings option for this in the latest version of the addon. Let me know if this works for you.
