In reply to: Can Header nav menu items be "linked" to categories?this is an exciting moment in blogging!
Yes, I saw that and just now I clicked Add to Menu and I see the new menu item at the bottom of the list, so now I have 2 “News” menu items.
The original says Page, the new one says Category.
I haven’t yet pressed “Save Menu” because I’m concerned that my WP nav will have 2 items that say “News”
Thank you for being patient with me!

In reply to: Can Header nav menu items be "linked" to categories?Hi, andrewcrook;
I see those tools on the Appearance > Menus page..I have my Main Menu visible, but what I don’t get is how to “tell” my News menu that it is to link to a category.
To me, these controls visually look like they could assign all categories to the whole menu, as opposed to more surgically assigning This Category to That Menu Item and not to the entire header nav menu.
I have a feeling I’m right at the edge of “getting” it here..thank you!

In reply to: Why is header menu only partly showingah…that sounds familiar…so, perhaps things aren’t in the correct order, or might not even be accounted for in there..
thank you..I thought that all of my work from here on would be in my php files…

In reply to: Why is header menu only partly showingwhat you see is correct, but the menu contains more than that…the whole thing, top level, is:
About
Menu
Photos
Culture
Blog
ContactI don’t see why all the top levels don’t show up there..plus the children of what is there…Culture has 4 child sub-nav elements.

In reply to: getting my styles to take effect?ok..thank you for that stephencottontail…I am so new to this, I have no clue why the two would differ…for the nav that can be seen in the WP site, the hover behavior is at least partially correct..

In reply to: getting my styles to take effect?I opened up the threehappiness style.css, select all, copy, go to my editor in my WP dash board, and pasted after the WP-required CSS.
is this incorrect? I see the css in there..
thank you!
PS: but I do see what you mean: when I view page source and click on the style.css link, the css I pasted into the dashboard>Editor are not there.
wowza!

In reply to: getting my styles to take effect?OK..I corrected the style.css versus styles.css issue..thank you for that..
but not much changed visibly..
Things don’t work in the sense that they don’t even resemble what the site should look like at this link here:

I am adding my css by copying from my static site’s .css file and pasting into “styles.css” in the Edit Themes section within my admin login. Then, I click “update file” and look at the site.
now, I have not added my blog markup yet and obviously this is key but it’s also where my knowlege gets to the “Bridge out” sign, so to speak.
Thank you!
