Thank you for getting back to me. I just installed the latest version and tried to create a child theme again. This time I got this message:

I just tried deactivating AVH Extended Categories Widgets plugin, creating a child theme and got this error message instead:

I just tried to submit a report via the support page you referred me to but got the following response after clicking Submit:

“This form is for pre-sales questions only. If you’ve purchased one of our core extensions, visit our support page. Otherwise, please visit the support forums.”

I have not purchased any add-on yet.

It appears your system allows only either pre-sale question or one has to be a paid customer.

Just realized the link I included in the original post was deleted. Then how can the plugin author know which plugin I was referring to? The deleted link was a same name plugin from Google search on “User pro” and it’s a pay plugin sold elsewhere and not one from repo here. Is that the one? Since it’s a pay plugin, I dont want to pay for something that’s not the one.

A search on Plugin / Add New, the first one on the result display was

“User registration & user profile – Profile Builder”

But I don’t think this is the one because the integration code did niot work on this plugin.

A side note to the moderator: recently all my posts got moderated. Did I do something against the rules? I can’t recall any. Recently, I started usung my old laptop and the touch pad feels very “dumb”, meaning every time when I click on something, it feels like it did not click when it actually did, and i ended up double click, something triple, without knowing it. I’m not sure if that’s the cause of this moderation and whatever followed it. If there’s more to it, please let me know hwo to improve. Communication is good for the soul. Thank you.

Besides this issue, last year when first started using this plugin, I found the Jobs page keyword search did not work. So I stopped using it. This year, I accidentally found it actually worked so I thought ths bug was fixed. But yesterday I realized it’s not working again. And deactivating all othe plugins did not solve the problem.

I’m not tech-savvy. I’ve used the terms post category feed / loop for some time and never caused any confusion so I don’t know why this time would and since I don’t really know what their real formal name is, allow me to explain it in my way to avoid any further consufion.

The post category feed I’m referring to is this:

I go to admin / post / categories and add new categories there.

Then Appearance / customize / Homepage settings / your latest posts

I vaguely remembered the ticket support called this the “main blog feed?”

If I click on any category link in the feed, it will take me to the post feed of that specific category. And this is the category feed I was referring to.

And if you look at these screenshots, you’ll see each post having the entire post content displayed in the feed, the featured image, the full text and even the embedded video. But I need it to show only the featured image and a certain number of content instead (e.g. 15 words max) and no any embedded video or anything else).

The “main blog feed” is exactly the same way but I don’t really display that feed on my site.

At backend I set it up this way:
Admin / Settings / reading / For each article in a feed, show / summary

And Appearance / customize does not have any option for default category feed setting.

I also wonder just how much supoort that ticket support can offer. Since Toyshop is a paid theme, at this point, it appeared to me that the amount of control for theme settings is less than a regular FREE theme and the suppot is no help at all. And it’s from WC.???????

The ad banner at the top of the post somehow was naturally left-aligned, which looks very strange up there. Can we make it centered?

Thank you. My site content is contributed by frontend users via a post submission form so I’m afraid your suggestion won’t work.

I contacted the ticket support you referred me to. They simply told me the post category setting option is not available for this theme and they don’t offer any customization help. That’s it. How disappointing.

I’m wondering if anyone can help, maybe there are codes we can add to functions.php or css codes to make the category feed show summary only/ thank you.

If I can get support here,

the post category feed in Toyshop show the full text of each post including embedded video even though my Admin / settings / reading was set on summary for each article in a feed. So how can I make them show summary or a set number of words only and hide embedded videos ?

There’s no such setting option at Customizer.

I checked the CSS code and there were no broken brackets or anything.

Disabling plugin-ml-slider-pro did not get rid of the Notice.

So I created a copy of my site before intending to restore it back to a previous version. Little did I know the copy version reflects only the site version immediately after i added the original functions.php code without the ”Notice: Undefined offset…” So that somehow unexpectedly fixed the Notice problem.

I did not use the modified functions.php. Instead, I kept the original one, then I also kept
#custom-img-header { max-height:500px; overflow:hidden; }

but removed img.avatar { max-width:48px;height:auto; }

Then I found the enlarged images on Event listing page can be easily corrected with a CSS plugin. Since I removed the img.avatar { max-width:48px;height:auto; }, the avatar on member profile page is corrected automatically.

The only problem left was the avatar on the private message plugin still looked abnormal. The CSS plugin couldn’t fix it. Then a few days later I suddely found it went back to normal without my knowledge. The only possible trigger of this unintended correction I can think of was probably the several deactivate-then-reactivate all of my plugins I did when troubleshooting a couple other plugins in between these two events.

Strange, but I’m only grateful they’re all fixed. I hope they will stay that way.

No worry. I suddenly remembered I had an abandoned site with my old host so I tested on that site and the button did not disappear after just 1 click. So I think that means it’s most probably a server issue. However, if you want to (that is you don’t have to) I found one new problem, that is the same user can report the same post twice so that would be a problem.

If you’re up to the challenge to fix the bug, thta’s great. If not, this is just for your information.

Thank you for the codes. Even tough it does solve the problem, but I also have some new discoveries.

1. After adding the 2 lines of CSS codes from your last message, whenever I’m on frontend Customizer, if I refresh the screen, when the screen came back, it will flash a bunch od codes at the top of the screen before they disappeared and the normal screen appears.

2. I use Ultimate Member and the member’s gravatar on their profile page now looks like this

, when the photo is supposed to neatly fit in the circle.

But if I removed the 2 lines of css codes, then it will look normal again.

3. I have Event Manager on my site and the event listing page originally looked like this

If you look at the top of screensot 93, right over the slider theres a line of text that should not be there

”Notice: Undefined offset: 1 in /www/wp-content/plugins/ml-slider-pro/modules/theme_editor/theme_editor.php on line 1420”

I forgot to check the event listing page when first adding the functions.php codes. Not knowing if it was the functions.php or the css code that is messing up the event listing page, I deleted one at a time but neither changed this event list page.

So I deleted both, which means everything should restore to the way it was, like nothing happened. But strangely, even after deleting both codes and the featured image disappeared from the top of a single post page,

. the event listing page is still messed up as appeared on the screenshots,
. the gravatar at comment form and the private message plugin are still blown up,
. when on frontend customizer and refresh page, it still has those codes popping up

The only thing that now looks normal is the gravatar on Ultimate Member profile page now looks normal.

I somehow feel something has been broken after adding those codes and it didnt feel right.

I’m wondering if any of this makes any sense to you and are they fixable?

Thanks again for the reply. I assume the CSS code is for separating Reply and Report Comment but for some reason did not work. I tried Crowd Control and it behaved exactly the same way as Zeno. I also tried 3 reports for a moderation and the Report Comment button still disappear after just 1 click, and never reappeared.

I think maybe this is sufficicent testing for this plugin for now. I was able to find some CSS codes from my previous version of the same site to improve the looks of comment form. so that’s a relief.
