In reply to: [Better Click To Tweet] Click to Tweet disappeared from ToolbarHi Sally,
That’s WordPress 5.0, I believe, not Better Click To Tweet in particular.
To add a BCTT box in the new editor, type a forward slash / and the word “tweet” like this:
That will bring up the option for adding in a BCTT block.
In the long run, this will be an easier way to create a block. I created this screencast to show you what’s up in the new editor:
??Let me know if that resolves things, or if you need further assistance. ?Thanks for using Better Click To Tweet! Have a great day.

In reply to: [Better Click To Tweet] Use Short URL Not WorkingHi there, my mistake. What you actually need to do is reset your jetpack settings so that jetpack generates a new short link for those pages. Here’s a support topic I found of someone having a similar issue. https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/jetpack-wpme-url-shortener-picking-up-old-dev-url/
It appears that disconnecting and reconnecting jetpack is enough to reset those short links, but if you run into any further issues I would recommend reaching out to the jetpack support team to get this resolved, since I’m not super familiar with jetpack myself.

In reply to: [Better Click To Tweet] Collecting analyticsHi there,
That feature is part of a paid subscription for the Click To Tweet plugin you’ve mentioned.
BUT… There definitely is a method for tracking analytics using Better Click To Tweet. It will take a bit of work, but here’s a primer:
First, sign up for an account at bit.ly or another URL shortener service (there’s one built into Jetpack, and there are self-hosted options like yourls.org that allow you to keep your own data).
If you use Jetpack, you can skip the next section:
Connect your bit.ly account or other shortener service to WordPress using a plugin. There are several in the plugin directory that do that.
Then, log into your site, and navigate the Better Click To Tweet’s settings page.
Check the box for using short URLs.
Now, by default, when you create a BCTT box, it will default to the shortlink. Then the service you use has ways to track those links.
I am also considering adding in more advanced tracking through Google Analytics as an add-on, but we don’t have a timeline for when that feature will be added.
Also note that you can manually create trackable links, and shorten them manually and add them to URL parameter on BCTT. Check out the power user guide at https://benlikes.us/7r for more details on that.
??Let me know if that resolves things, or if you need further assistance. ?Thanks for using Better Click To Tweet! Have a great day.

In reply to: [Better Click To Tweet] Use Short URL Not WorkingHi Evian,
That Short URL is pointing to a staging/development site at https://73a.438.myftpupload.com/tips-and-resources/deciding-to-list-your-place-on-airbnb/what-type-of-airbnb-host-do-you-plan-to-be/ (the error you are getting is because it’s trying to see the https version of the site). This likely means that you created those click to tweet boxes on the staging site and then pushed them the live site.
When changes like that are pushed live, the process usually uses a database find/replace to switch out the staging URL for the live site URL. In this case, the shortlinks feature “hid” the staging URL. You’ll need to recreate those Better Click To Tweet boxes on the live site, I think.
?Let me know if that resolves things, or if you need further assistance. ?Thanks for using Better Click To Tweet! Have a great day.

In reply to: [Better Click To Tweet] GDPR complianceNo, this plugin doesn’t store anything or track anything. Thanks!

In reply to: [Better Click To Tweet] “via” does not appear at allHi there,
Thanks for clarifying with the link to Marie’s site. That’s being done with custom code on their site. You’d have to reach out to them for the exact code, but it’s really a sharp implementation and example of how to extend Better Click To Tweet.
By default, the via is only sent after the click, not displayed on the front end of the site.
I’m interested in how they did that as well, but that’s not something I’d be able to help you to implement as a part of free support, here.
Thanks for reaching out!

In reply to: [Better Click To Tweet] Does exactly what it say it doesHi there!
Thanks so much for the kind words. So you know, the plugin works alongside other solutions that use bit.ly, as outlined in this help article.

Thanks again!

Have a great day.

In reply to: [Better Click To Tweet] Add Button to Text EditorHi there,
Thanks for reaching out.
This is not easily possible using a custom code snippet, but I am going to look into adding this functionality.
Better Click To Tweet is a free plugin that I work on in my spare time, so adding functionality like that can take a while. Thanks for your patience.
By the way, be sure to check out the power user guide at https://benlikes.us/7r for more ways you can use Better Click To Tweet.
Thanks! Have a great day.

In reply to: [Better Click To Tweet] Better click to tweet: privacy concernsHi Wiebke,
Thanks for the message.
No, all Better Click To Tweet Does is specially format an outgoing link to twitter. (actually technically two links) When a reader clicks on the link, if they are logged into twitter at the time, it will give them the ability to immediately click it. If they are not logged in, it gives them the opportunity to log in a tweet the text.
It uses what is called a “Web Intent” on Twitter to make that happen. You can read more about that here: https://dev.twitter.com/web/intents
There is no security issue whatsoever with Better Click To Tweet.
Let me know if I can clarify that for you.
Thanks!
Hi there!
Thanks for reaching out.
Can you give me a link to a malfunctioning shortcode? Even if you need to make a “hidden” podcast (not sure if that’s possible) so that I can see the breakage in action.
My first thought is that the podcast post type is somehow misconfiguring either the return URL, or not porperly allowing shortcodes. Let me know the following:
1. WHat plugin or solution are you using to create the podcast pages?
2. Can I see a live link to one of those pages?
3. What other plugins are you using currently?
4. WHat theme are you using?Let me know, and we’ll get to the bottom of this.
Thanks!
Thanks for these great feature requests. Front end posting is especially powerful, but right now you’d be better off using Ninja Forms or something and some custom code to create a shortcode from a contact form submission. I’d have to think through that.
Adding a custom url is already possible, using the url parameter. See the power user guide here (it’s in the section about removing the URL, at the end of that section): https://benlikes.us/7r
Adding images is on the long term roadmap, but I am not sure when I’ll get to it. As a free plugin, it’s a part time hobby around here. So unless I get someone willing to fund my time for that, it’s going to take a while.
Thanks so much for using my plugin! Have a great day!

In reply to: [Better Click To Tweet] Rotating Tweets (shortcode)Hi there,
Thanks for the request.
It might be possible to build an add-on for Better Click To Tweet that would perform that type of functionality, but out of the box there’s no way to execute PHP in a shortcode parameter.
Thanks for using my plugin!
