In reply to: [WPTrainMe] Not all badHi mandraagora,
Appreciate your review and feedback.
FYI, when a user clicks on the tutorials list inside their WP dashboard, the tutorial link opens up in a new browser window that takes them inside their private membership area in WPTrainMe where the videos are located. Technically, users haven’t left their WordPress site. They can continue working inside their dashboard from the window they logged in.
In the future, if more people install and use the plugin and we have the financial resources available, I’ll definitely look into the option of making the experience more seamless for users.
Once again, thank you for your review and valuable feedback – much appreciated!
Cheers,
Martin

In reply to: [WPTrainMe] Nice idea, poor executionHi digigirl,
Thank you for your comments and for trying out the plugin.
“The link you are sent to is not the link to register”
I am not exactly sure what link you were sent and where this link originated from. I have added the plugin registration/activation link below to the “Installation” tab in the plugin page:
[ Moderator note: Link fixed. Please do not track usage along those lines again. ]
I have also placed the same link in various pages on the
wptrainme.com
website including the Plugin User Guide here:Additionally, I have added a video that explains how to install, activate and use the plugin to the above pages:
We have tried to make the process for activating the plugin simple:
1 – Download the plugin from www.ads-software.com
2 – Sign up at https://wptrain.me/members/
3 – Use those same details to activate the plugin and access the tutorialsI am also puzzled by your comment that the tutorials are “Long pages of text with a few images with arrows on some topics. Other topics, no real instructions at all, just links to other pages.”
The tutorials are long, as they break every step down of each process in great detail so that ‘non-technical’ users can follow the instructions step-by-step with no missing gaps or assumptions made. The tutorials, however, also contain thousands of detailed screenshots illustrating every step of the process.
I have posted previews of many of the tutorials on our website, so users can see exactly what to expect from the plugin. For example:
- https://wptrainme.com/wordpress-tutorial-preview/wordpress-plugin-tutorial-wordpress-seo-by-yoast-plugin
- https://wptrainme.com/wordpress-tutorial-preview/wordpress-tutorial-how-to-customize-your-wordpress-404-error-page
- https://wptrainme.com/wordpress-tutorial-preview/how-to-configure-your-wordpress-discussion-settings
- https://wptrainme.com/wordpress-tutorial-preview/how-to-display-related-posts-on-your-wordpress-site
- https://wptrainme.com/wordpress-tutorial-preview/wordpress-step-by-step-tutorial-how-to-delete-wordpress
You can see from the above that the tutorials contain many detailed screenshots interspersed between the text-based instructions.
“all it is, is a long list of links to his tutorial pages.”
You have pointed out correctly that all the tutorials listed in the plugin link to our tutorial pages. Clicking on those links opens up the tutorials for users in a separate browser window, allowing them to access the information while they continue working inside their WordPress admin areas. This is no different than clicking on the links inside the “Help” tab in the WP admin which then open up relevant pages of the WordPress Codex in a separate window for users.
We store all of the tutorials in one central location, as this allows us to make changes to the content whenever changes and updates are required, making it easier to manage the hundreds of tutorials made available to users via the plugin.
“Other topics, no real instructions at all, just links to other pages.”
The content in all the 40+ tutorials available in the FREE plugin edition have been fully developed and contain detailed step-by-step instructions. The tutorials link internally to other tutorials so that users can click on a link and continue learning about related topics. Some of the links point to tutorials that are available only to premium plugin edition users. Maybe this is what you are referring to?
I have personally spent the last 3+ years carefully documenting the exact steps I have used over and over again to successfully train our WordPress clients and putting these into the hundreds of detailed tutorials provided in the WPTrainMe plugin.
It’s my sincere hope, therefore, that these tutorials will provide new WordPress users with more answers than questions, and I always welcome any suggestions users have for improving the plugin.
Thank you for your feedback, it is much appreciated.

In reply to: [WPTrainMe] Complete and Utter GarbageThe plugin is not trialware. Users get full and non-expiring access to dozens of highly detailed WordPress step-by-step tutorials for FREE once the plugin has been activated using an authentication key which is also provided Free of charge.
WordPress’ own Akismet plugin requires signing up for an activation key in order to access their service. Our plugin authentication process simply tells our server which user has signed up for a Free or Premium account and delivers them the correct tutorials for their plugin edition. No advertising banners or pop-up messages asking users to upgrade display in the tutorials.
As explained in our FAQ section, all tutorials are hosted on our server as this allows us to keep all of the content up-to-date. This is especially important given the fact that WordPress changes quite frequently and the tutorials need to reflect those changes, otherwise users will end up with a garbage plugin full of outdated content.
Our tutorials contain thousands of detailed screenshots, which need to be kept up-to-date. The only way to do this is to host all of the tutorial content, images, videos, downloadable files (templates, checklists, flowcharts, etc.) centrally on our server.
I strongly disagree that users would be better off searching YouTube or reading the Codex. Our plugin is designed to help users avoid wasting their valuable time scouring the net searching through hours of YouTube videos, and the tutorials were specifically created to make learning WordPress easy for non-technical users.
The Codex is great for web developers and people who like sifting through technical content, but many non-technical users find it hard to use.
We have spent over three years to date and thousands of hours working on creating a complete WordPress ‘A-Z’ step-by-step training system with original content that non-technical users can follow to learn how to gain full control of their online presence. The Free tutorials alone provide users with more in-depth knowledge of WordPress than most of the basic WordPress tutorials for beginners being sold or made available online.
Finally, the plugin provides users with exceedingly high quality training content, as can be attested by the many great testimonials we have received from users (see https://wptrainme.com/testimonials for details).
I sincerely encourage anyone who wants to learn WordPress to download the Free version of the plugin and give WPTrainMe a fair go. We are committed to providing the best WordPress training available and we are always open to suggestions for improvement.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to reply.
