Thanks for your reply Anders. And again, thanks for the beautiful theme.
I’ll do a bit a sleuthing when time permits, though my site is small and non-commercial and so highness in search rankings is not such a pressing concern; it’s more an irritation that something that ain’t broke The Gorgon is demanding coercively, with threats, be ‘fixed’.
Might you be willing to take these matters into consideration for a future theme update?

of course! thanks kw.
“UpdraftPlus is a WordPress plugin; as such, it relies on WordPress running and handing it the opportunity to do something; in particular, it relies upon WordPress’s scheduled task engine running properly.”
Well it’s worked now.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [WP Custom Admin Interface] No changes stickThank you
Hello again.
Since I can’t edit or delete the above post, please ignore it for a while. I’ve done something – I’ve no idea what (might have been clearing the host’s cache, but that wouldn’t explain why the site has updated- I don’t remember doing that)- that has caused the posts page background to become the intended edited colour, slightly lighter than what I dimly recall was the default dark/teal accents theme hues. Meanwhile all the other pages are a lot darker. So all is the reverse of what was being attempted to be done. All the text has reverted to a very light grey or white. But everything looks great now- all readable, and no idea how accomplished.

In reply to: [Hemingway] Prospective child theme analysis throws php errorsJust at the moment I was editing the post I had made and checking the box labelled “resolved”, to let you know that I’d contacted the host and that the host had said that the errors were because of the plugin trying to do something mysterious to the headers- my internet crashed for about 5 hours, and the edits were lost. [3 tenses in one sentence. fun :)]
The intention was to leave the question there in case future people might have the same sort of error message and know what to do. Which in this case was to deactivate the Gallery Videa plugin (all the embedded vids still work fine) and retry. Success. Nothing to do with the host’s caching service, all to do with the plugin. Thanks for “Hemingway”. It’s really splendid. We all love it.

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Dropbox not authorisingCurl version:
7.66.0 / SSL: OpenSSL/1.1.1g-fips / libz: 1.2.11I’m happy to report that ten minutes ago I updated the plugin and that immediately dropbox received new backup files.
Problem solved at your end. Well done and thanks to the devs, and to you for bringing the matter to their attention.

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Dropbox not authorisingHere is a possible problem: The account holder’s name as listed in Updraft is wrong. That username had to be changed. Could that be the something to do with the problem, and if so, is there a way to update Updraft on this?
Note that there is only one admin user, so it’s not possible to log out and log in again as the user Updraft thinks is the one.

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Dropbox not authorisingThank you Bryle.
The latest:
put WP in troubleshooting mode and enabled only Updraft. Underwent Authentication process and got the same bounce back to login screen.
Logged back in- but didn’t have to log in on every tab this time.
Tried again, this time successfully.
Dropbox is now “(You appear to be already authenticated)”
BUT several attempts at backups throw errors:
Dropbox_BadRequestException
From the log:
Dropbox: chunked upload exception (Dropbox_BadRequestException): (line: 225, file: /home/customer/www/[thesite]/public_html/wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/includes/Dropbox2/OAuth/Consumer/Curl.php)Settings include (attempts to make it easy for Updraft to talk to Dropbox):
CHECKED – ON: Use the server’s SSL certificates.:
CHECKED – ON: Do not verify SSL certificates.:
Those settings didn’t help.
Here’s a user’s similar experience that spontaneously resolved:
https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-API-Support-Feedback/Dropbox-authentication-error-with-UpdraftPlus-from-Wordpress/td-p/420124Support staff pointed the user back at Updraft.
Do you have any ideas?

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Dropbox not authorisingThanks Bryle, that was the second thing I tried, after repeated attempts the usual way. Tried wiping the settings under ‘advanced’, as you mention, several times.
It didn’t until this evening when I set one up, but I disabled again it to try the Dropbox connection another time.
I’m going to have another look through the plugins for a possible conflict. Any other suggestions would be great.

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Dropbox not authorisingps. please extend the time limit for editing one’s own posts to *no limit*
That would help a lot with giving the opportunity to refine, clarify. Very reassuring. More edits were needed for original post to adjust an essential nuance. It’s disquieting having own words co-opted. Apologies for off-topic remark.

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Dropbox not authorisingThanks for your response.
I tried Onedrive, which has a free version, but it costs to access it via Updraft for some reason. That wasn’t clear in the list, so I wasted time creating a new account only to find that money barrier at the end.
Unfortunately Google Drive is not an option.
Could we troubleshoot the Dropbox process?
ALSO, it is not convenient in this case to use either Google or Microsoft storage.
I’ve called the provider again and they have adjusted the maxQueryString limit upwards to 15,000.
But the problem still exists. So the cause must be something else.
I’d really appreciate some help with this. At the moment, the site is not getting backed up, and that is not good.
Thanks for taking the time to respond. But I’m confused; setting up the Dropbox worked fine the first time. Why is there a problem changing from one to another?
- This reply was modified 4 years, 4 months ago by wpusrr.
Thanks. I’ve called them. Siteground. Shared server; that limit can’t be touched. they Say, however that millions of people use Updraft and that they’re set up to play well with it.
If this maxQueryLimit is really the problem, how about Updraft make the query a bit shorter? Do they really need 3500???
