In reply to: New blog not listed in “Global Dashboard” “My Blogs”All of my blogs, in WordPress.com AND self hosted, are listed on this page except my new test blog that I started in WP3. There is a new system to set up Akismet and a new way to get an API key. I’m wondering if that is the problem, and if so how I can work around it.

It is so convenient having all my blogs accessible in one place — except my new test blog.
Bummer.
Can anybody help me?
Thank you!

In reply to: New blog not listed in “Global Dashboard” “My Blogs”Dear Helpful people,
I’m still hoping somebody knows how to get my www.ads-software.com blog listed in my WordPress.com Global Dashboard. Having two of them listed there is so handy, that I want to know how to get my test blog listed there, too.
Thank you!

In reply to: New blog not listed in “Global Dashboard” “My Blogs”Saildude,
Yes, as I understand it the “add blog” and “domain mapping” are both about wordpress.COM.
This thing is, www.ads-software.com version 3, that I just downloaded and made a test blog, has a new way of getting API keys. Since I already have an API key, I went ahead and used it. But, now you can buy them or get one free with a non-commercial blog.
My question to everybody who is reading this is rather the new way the API key is handled is related to my new test blog not showing with my other two WP.org blogs.
Perhaps the mystery will contunue as Saildude says….

In reply to: New blog not listed in “Global Dashboard” “My Blogs”RVoodoo,
One of mine appears to be listed twice, too. But, it is actually my other blog. One blog is in a folder of my main domain. When I hover over the second appearance of the one blog, it is actually my second blog. I’m just mentioning this in case yours is the same way.

I was mystified when they showed up, but somebody someplace wrote that it is associated with the api key somehow. Personally, I’m not an authority…..

In reply to: New blog not listed in “Global Dashboard” “My Blogs”RVoodoo,
Thank you for seconding my statement that the self hosted blogs do show.I also understand they show because of plugging in the API key to use the Akismet.
My test blog was downloaded from www.ads-software.com. But my site is not .org. It is in a folder of my main dot com domain:
https://x-evolutionist.com/just-a-test-blog/
But, another blog that is also in a folder in that domain does show:
https://x-evolutionist.com/life-in-our-backyard/
Just, as I said above, the whole path does not show, except when I roll over it.

My two www.ads-software.com blogs actually do show in my WordPress.com Global Dashboard. Here is a screencap:
https://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h319/X-Evolutionist/GlobalDashboard.png
I don’t know how they got there, but they are there. (the full url of the second one does not show in the image, only in rollover. It is in a folder of the main domain.) It is very handy, and I want to add my new test blog there, too.
I just upgraded the two blogs listed at the bottom of the image to WP3 the other day. They are not WordPress.com blogs, I promise.

In reply to: New blog not listed in “Global Dashboard” “My Blogs”I hope somebody can help me with this. Having my other two www.ads-software.com blogs showing in my WordPress.com Global Dashboard is very handy! It takes longer to get to my test blog because it is not linked to the Global Dashboard.
Thank you!

In reply to: Imported blog from WP to WP – Posts came without categories labeledIt turns out the posts WERE in the categories, it just didn’t say so. I selected each category individually, did a batch select and re-associated it with the same category. Then, I removed the category widget, closed the browser, and added the category widget again.
Everything works fine now. Perhaps this will help the next person.

In reply to: Are pages and posts treated equally by search engines?esmi,
After I deleted my posts, I remembered the difference: Pages don’t have tags. Most of my tags went away. I knew there was a difference, I just couldn’t remeember what it was.
Thanks again!

In reply to: Made “Blog” page, set settings to Posts page: Blog – did not workEsmi,
Thank you for responding.
The problem was a superceded 301 redirect from my old website. OOPS. I could not delete my post when I realized what the problem was.
I have an other question you might help me with. I posted it a few minutes ago:
I copied some of my posts and made them into pages to make my blog look like a website. Do pages get crawled the same as posts? I want to make sure before I delete my duplicate content.
In case pages are not crawled, I want to keep my posts online.
(I am only a couple of weeks into wordpress. I still have a lot to learn)
Thank you,
