XCloner does not require the exec function to be enabled, it can work without it also, just that the code should not break when it asks for that function existence, so I think your hosting support still need to fix this!

Send them the code i sent you earlier so they can test it, the script should finish execution under normal conditions with or without exec function enabled!

The open_basedir is not related to this matter, we mark that with red in case users need to track down permission issues.

Regarding the display:none, that code is being enabled only when the page is fully loaded, so when the config page will display properly, that code should work

From what i have been able to check, the server seems to stop the script when it asks if the exec function is enabled, around line 2053->2056

if(function_exists(“exec”)){

}

inside the wp-content/plugins/xcloner-backup-and-restore/admin.cloner.html.php file, check the XCloner Config, Info tab, you will see that page is incomplete

I would advise checking with your hosting support on this as the issue is generated by their server config, or simply remove that code, it should help.

That is pretty weird, can you check and see if you get any javascript errors, usually you should see the Save button in the top right, are you able to see the toolbar buttons in the View Backups area for instance?

If you still get a blank page there, i would advise enabling php errors on your server to see what the actual error is, what php version are you running?

XCloner code is not encoded, and you can check for yourself the code, it does not contain any viruses whatsoever, it might be a misconfiguration somewhere which we could fix if you can send us further details on that notification message

The error you have there usually indicates the files were not restored properly, have you checked with a ftp client if the missing files are present in the restore location?(ex: /home/<user-name>/public_html/<restored-site>.com/wp-includes/classes.php)

You can several options to make this work:
1. if you use the ftp upload mode, have you checked that the ftp upload path was correct? should point to the same folder as indicated in the “Install dir:” restore path
2. have you tried the restore by using the “Install files directly” option checked?
3. have you tried extracting the backup archive manually, and then restoring with the “Skip files restore” option checked?
4. have you checked if the backup archive has the same size as on the original host, are you able to open it?

Any details you can share here about the paths and restore options you used when restoring, would help us in figuring the issue you have! And as always, make sure php.ini safe_mode is disabled.

Hi there! XCloner provides a cron script for running automatic backups, check the XCloner backend left menu -> Cron link, however to run it you need access to a cron manager on your server that can run that script, that cron manager provides usually details regarding when to run that backup script and intervals

I am sorry to hear about your bad experience, do you have any specifics of the exact issue(s)?

XCloner saves it’s setting in the wp-content/plugin/xcloner-backup-and-restore/cloner.config.php file, usually you need to make that writeable in order to update it’s settings.

Could you try and reinstall your 2.2.1 version, we had a small bug in there with the file recursion

As for the timeout issue, how did you determine that, any specific errors?

In our next release we will add some new incremental options which will help with the system load, particularly in the database side, but you could try for now to create separate backups for files by excluding the database, and see if that helps

– how big is your site?
– is it a shared or dedicated environment?
– what php version are you running?
– what is the version of XCloner and what changes did you make in the config from the default ones?

Also, we need to know if you get pass the mysql backup process? to understand if the timeout is at the database backup step, file scanning or file archiving…
