Well, I have the same problem as you. Until I turn off the “Optimize DB” plugin.
I think you could try to turn off all the other plugins and turn on them one by one to check if any other plugin messed FCG.

Well, after I read the codex document again. I think it’s how the “get_the_category” works.

But the new question is how can I list all the categories on the homepage while images for each category instead of text?

NO one can help?
Let me make it clear.
When I say it only show the latest updated category’s image, I mean I updated 3 posts, each one in different category, but only the category contains the last post shows the image.
