  • Very good!

If my post is not fully on-topic, I apologize (I won’t write any more posts in this thread).

I’m still using the “full” version found on GitHub. Is there anyone who knows how to fix the social buttons (Facebook and Twitter) on the old Hueman version? I tried copying some of the relevant, new code (found in the Hueman Addons plugin) to sharrre.php in my existing version of Hueman, but it did not make any difference.

I can’t afford any downtime on my site until early next year, so I have to wait until then to update my theme and install and configure the Hueman Addons plugin. I do worry that the transition from the old Hueman version to the new version + addon plugin won’t be 100% smooth …

Anyway, big thanks to @nikeo for updating the theme/plugin and to @bdbrown for amazing support.

Thank you for the update @nikeo. Good to see that the work on version 3.0 is progressing.

I’m using the “full” version of Hueman. From reading the blog post (presscustomizr.com/introducing-hueman-v3-0/) I gather that the new 3.0 version will include all the “full” Hueman theme features except the elegant and easy-to-use Share bar.

Can you or someone else confirm that users need to find and install their own Share plugins if/when they upgrade to Hueman 3.0? There are sooo many plugins to choose from, which is not always a good thing, hehe. I have the impression that many such plugins can seriously slow down the speed and performance of a website. Maybe the theme author could suggest a nice, “light” and free Share plugin when Hueman 3.0 is released…?

Anyway, thanks a lot for keeping this great, free theme alive!

I have a few important questions that I hope Alex or Nicolas/presscustomizr (or somebody else) can answer:

On the above-mentioned page it says that “www.ads-software.com now requires theme options to be in the Customizer panel only”.

    1) Does that mean that the latest full version, i.e. Hueman 2.2.5 (now only found on GitHub), is not compatible with the latest WordPress release, i.e. 4.4?

    2) What are the differences now between the full version and the “lite” www.ads-software.com version?

The “lite” version did not include sharing buttons, basic shortcodes plus some other stuff that I no longer remember. This information has now disappeared from Alex’ homepage. The new Hueman page, on presscustomizr.com/hueman/, features screenshots of Alex’ old homepage, where e.g. Sharrre integration is one of the listed features. This brings me to my third question:

    3) Are all the features of the full version now incorporated into the “lite” WordPress version?

I’m running the full (albeit not the latest) version of Hueman on my blog, and I have to think about downgrading to (or, rather, install) the www.ads-software.com version if development on the full version is halted and/or it is incompatible with recent or upcoming WP versions. It depends on whether this process is hassle-free and how many features are missing compared to the full version. I would prefer to continue to use the full version, though.

Lastly, a huge thank you to Alex for this great free theme. I hope Nicolas/presscustomizr will take good care of it in the future ??

Hmm, noone else who finds this issue annoying?

The bug is present also on Alexander’s demo site for his new paid themes Magaziner and Agnar, so it would be of interest to find a fix.

Hm, it seems we celebrated prematurely.

After I installed v2.2.2 I still have problems with the sidebars. And now the issue is back also on Alexander’s own Live Demo site: https://demo.alxmedia.se/hueman

I’m using Safari on an iPad Mini Retina running iOS 8.3. See my original post at the top for more info. The sidebar bug is seen when trying to open sidebars on a blog post (not the front/main page).

Here are new screenshots (taken today, May 1st) of Alexander’s Demo Site:

    portrait (right sidebar, 1-sidebar layout)
    landscape (right sidebar, 1-sidebar layout)

As you can see, the sidebar opens to the right, off screen. When turning the iPad to landscape orientation, the sidebar is still not visible (again, it’s off screen to the right).

I love Hueman. I hope it’s possible for Alexander to fix the issue so that iPhone and iPad users can see the sidebar content.

Good news ?? Great work and support, Alexander!

At the moment I’m abroad and only have access to a very dodgy internet connection, but I’ll check out the solution as soon as I can. Maybe I’ll just update the theme when the new version is available.

I have now tested this, and indeed I can reproduce the issue, even on the official Hueman demo site. As debthelplawyers explains, the problem occurs when viewing a post.

The issue might be related to a bug I found regarding the sidebars not opening in Safari on iOS. Alexander’s own demo site also has the sidebar issue.

I hope Alexander the Great reads these reports and will offer a fix in an upcoming theme update. Maybe I will get his attention by donating some $$ to his PayPal account. He deserves it.

Hmm, nobody else have this frustrating issue?

The bug/issue not only affects my website (running Hueman), but also Alexander’s own demo site, see screenshots and explanation in the previous post.

    @ Paint Guy:
The slowness issue has not been fixed. As far as I know, it has not been acknowledged by the developers as a problem related to WordPress, so it might take a while for this to be sorted out …

If the reported and documented slowness of both the admin pages and the public pages made with WP 2.7 continues to be regarded as a server-only problem, then this matter will never be resolved.

I have a fresh install, no plugins, no spam comments etc. etc. Sometimes the site works ok, sometimes it hangs forever. Too bad, as I really liked the features of WP and was looking forward to using it on my website. Several colleagues of mine (with lots of experience with WP, Joomla etc.) had to downgrade to a previous version, as they found the slowness unacceptable. Still, I hope the problem will be resolved somehow ??

Was it too much? ?? Sorry.

Comments on any of my four questions are welcomed ??

Just a note: Sometimes my (public) web page doesn’t load at all (original post). In these cases, my browser reports the following:

“No suitable nodes are available to serve your request.”

I’m not sure if this might be a clue …

I installed 2.7 a week ago. This was my first WordPress-installation, and I had high hopes. (BTW, I had to ask my web host to boost the php memory from 16 to 24 MB in order to get it installed.) Admin is indeed very slow: Sometimes it can take as “short” as 5-6 seconds to load a page, while sometimes it never loads at all.

But my homepage (i.e. the public pages) is also extremely slow. This is my main concern. It seems the “slowness” problem discussed here applies to the Admin pages, but I was wondering how many of you have problems with the public end as well?

Even though there is no immediate fix, it sometimes helps to know that I’m not alone ?? I can only hope that people who know more about this kind of stuff than I, are able to pinpoint the problem and offer a solution.

So, how much memory does WordPress 2.7 installation require?

Well, my web host was nice enough to increase the php memory from 16 MB to 24 MB. This time I had no trouble installing it! ??

I wonder if my webpage will work ok if they decrease the memory to 16 MB again …?

Anyway, my original problem is solved.

Editing wp-settings.php didn’t work. I guess it’s because users can’t override the php settings of the web host (web10.nu). As I mentioned in my first post, adding ini_set(‘memory_limit’,’32M’); to various other php files (another tip) didn’t help either.

If my host has an upper memory limit of 16 MB, I might be stuck. Too bad, I really wanted to try WordPress …
