    Hi

Thanks for that – I had tried https://mydomain.com/wp-admin/ as you suggested – this brings me to my login page, at which point I enter my username and password. I then get an error ‘invalid username’. The user name I am using is the same as that in wp_config and wp_user and is also showing as a user in mysql.

I really have been all around the houses with this but no go. It is probably something simple but…

Thanks though. If you have any other suggestions I would be pleased to see them!!

In reply to: Updating my site

    Hi

My WordPress site went live last week – all good with the site – however since the site went live I have not been able to access my WP Admin to edit my local files.
I have tried to access my dashboard/admin panel to edit my site by username password and also localhost/wp-admin also mysite/wp-admin etc etc.
    All to no avail.
I have went to php my admin panel changed the username and password and altered wp-config to match the password username on phpmy admin.
I have tried the username and password on C panel my sql –

    All to no avail.

I have received various error messages like Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at https://localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?

If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forum

I am used localhost and my site as the host name.

I have contacted my host who informed me that as the files are local files they could not help.

So as things stand I have a site up and running but cannot edit files through access wrodpress admin,

I would really appreciate any help as I seem to be going in circles.

    Many thanks
