My best suggestion would be to either contact a hack repair service immediately or restore from a backup.

I would also suggest asking the malware removal service how the breach happened; they may have some additional recommendations based on the underlying cause.

Did you have any backups you could have possibly restored from? If not, have you tried deleting the theme and all of its files from your cpanel/ftp client? Perhaps you could just start fresh after that. You might wanna check for some plugin conflicts as well since you’re not sure what could be causing this.

I’m not sure about a plugin specifically. But this is something you can do with google docs. Perhaps you may look into a plugin with the option to link to your google doc account. This would enable someone to edit and send you a file without downloading. Hopefully this can at least point you in the right direction.

Have you checked your site health? Are you experiencing network issues? Could be a plugin conflict too. Try deactivating all of your plugins and seeing if the problem still persists. If not then you can work on finding out which one is the culprit.
