In reply to: [Enhanced Recent Posts] Still showing a category it should not showThat was the problem!
Problem solved — I managed to find the category IDs!

In reply to: [Enhanced Recent Posts] Still showing a category it should not showActually — ALL the “past event” category items continue to display despite my specifying that they NOT display when configuring the widget. (the bottom two items in “upcoming events” are really “past events”.
I did not use IDs, I simply entered the “name” of the category. Could that be the issue? I did not see any IDs for the categories anywhere.

In reply to: Posts displaying in multiple categoriesThat looks perfect — what would we do without plugins??
Thanks again.

In reply to: Posts displaying in multiple categoriesAh, right, thanks.
Here’s one more posts/categories question for you!
You wouldn’t happen to know how to get the “Recent Posts” widget to ONLY display posts from a specific category would you?
Thanks again for all your great advice.

In reply to: Posts displaying in multiple categoriesI fixed it!
It was something to do with how I had the “Menu” set up.
Do you happen to know if there is a way to edit on post pages where it says “Archive | Events” or “Archive | Past Events” —- to eliminate the word “Archive” and just enter a title of our choice?
Thanks for all your help and moral support!

In reply to: Posts displaying in multiple categoriesNo, I’ve checked — ONLY “past events” is checked off for that post (Wine, Women & Song). Nothing else.
On the main Posts page where WP lists all posts — if you “filter” to display only “Events” category — the above post does NOT show up. And if you filter to display only “Past Events” — it DOES show up. So, it is sorting them out properly from the Main post page.
Frustrating!?

In reply to: Posts displaying in multiple categoriesThank you — I tried that, and the post “Wine, Women & Song” — which is assigned to the “Past Events” category, STILL shows up under “Events” (i.e. new, up and coming events)

Above is our “Events” category page, and ‘Wine, Women & Song’ still displays there. (at the very bottom, and I added “past event” to its title, for clarity).
Weird.

In reply to: Trouble editing H1 text with cufon in Minibuzz ThemeI tried, but Themeforest requires username, password to log into the Themeforest system. I was not the one to purchase this so . . .
I was hoping maybe someone here had some suggestions — I suspect it’s something to do with the “custom fields” (why does this work on homepage, but not on other pages??)
Here’s the site, if that’s any help:
https://www.preservativeservices.comI’m not impressed with the Minibuzz theme, or Cufon fonts, in any case!
Thanks!

In reply to: Is it possible to do a Swap?@dave M.
Thanks –
OK, so, I’m thinking I will move the Root install into its own new directory first – and then – move the new site that’s now in the DRAFT directory, into the ROOT folder? Does that sound feasible?
Seems like there would be some “down time” in this scenario, but I doubt anyone will notice!

In reply to: Is it possible to do a Swap?Hmmm. Are you sure about that? Could I trouble you to write out the steps? I’m somewhat new to this aspect of moving and don’t want to lose anything.
The old and the new versions of the site each have their own WP Theme associated with it. Also, the “new” version (that is in the DRAFT directory) has a lot of new and different information and images in it.
Thanks again.

Here are the directions where I read the above regarding “sharing”. It makes no mention of installing any plugins:

In reply to: Entire WordPress Site Suddenly VANISHEDPhew! Yes — a big thank you to the tech fellow at Hostgator who got us back up and running.
Turns out there was a glitch in one of the WordPress database tables, disabling the entire site. Once the table was repaired, order was restored and I began to breathe again. I will be sure to do regular backups. Thank you all for your comments and moral support!

In reply to: Entire WordPress Site Suddenly VANISHEDThere was a LOT of content on here. I cannot fathom what button I could possibly have pushed, that would do this. Even if I selected to “delete my entire site” — don’t you typically get asked to “confirm” that you want to do this? Even the menus created are GONE. It’s a complete BLANK!?
Oh, this is really, really bad!!

In reply to: How to add pages but not have them display in navigation menuAh ha, I see – I dragged the sub-page onto the primary page, which made it appear in as a drop down thing — anyway, it’s working, Yay.
