That is strange, because there are no redirections within CBH code. Which theme and which login plugin do you use? Do shortcodes from other plugins work for you?

hi, i am sorry for replying late (hope that not too late).
my motivation for two-stage approvement is that i have quite a small blog network (about 30 blogs of people who know each other from “real life”, 200 users – mostly visitors of private blogs) and i’d like to be informed about new user registrations… sometimes one person registered for multiple blogs with multiple user accounts which lead to incredible mess and confusion. so i decided i rather approve every registration request myself (i don’t get many) and i prevent this kind of problems.

thank you for your suggestion, i will definitely implement the possibility to switch off one of the approvement stages – but i can’t promise you that it will be very soon, i am quite busy nowadays…

thank you. but i get so much spam already that it doesn’t matter anymore ?? luckily gmail’s spam filters work well…
