Wordpress and Wordfence are always up to date, the orphans just remain broken, to be honest since this site has been on death’s door for the last two years, I really haven’t done much more than keep things updated.

Understood on the human behavior aspect, guess I will give the hidden login page a whirl, and talk to the owner and try to get them to at least let me refresh the site and get rid the cruft.

Understandable, they use some small time hosting service, friend of friend deal. Also against my recommendations. I think the hoster got hacked at some point and these ner-do-wells might have been in on that hack or at least got their hands on the data. I say that, as the name of the hoster shows up once in a while on the login attempts.

I’ve thought about hiding the login page, but have balked against doing it for two reasons; one I see many comments that say it just doesn’t help, two the site uses S2member and I suspect it may break that plugin. Clearly, need to spend more (unfunded) time to look into that second item.

Sadly no, I wish I were joking. I don’t believe it to be an insider, just someone who has data mined email addresses. The folks running this biz chose poorly against my recommendations and I suspect will be paying the price of the poor choices.

Arrrgh!! Thank you Damon! I was being stymied by the Long URL filter in iThemes security as well.

Had the same issue, twice now, each time I’ve gone in to make the change as described above only to find the entire ai1ec directory is gone from the plugins directory. The first time I wound up re-installing, only to have it happen a second time. What could possibly cause that?

@bas82: This particular one is being run on a biz account with 1and1, who are now claiming that the client should throw more money at them to increase the amount of memory available. Consequently, there’s no CL access nor access to Apache/PHP config files.

I’ve found that I can upload large files via the Nivo Slider upload interface and that goes off without a hitch. Which makes me very suspect of the post processing thumbnail creation that WP does when uploading images.

bas82, I’m trying to work this problem with 1and1 as well and the last message I got from them talked about moving to upper level hosting program that would allow more memory for WP. The current level my site is on is limited to I believe either 32 or 40 MB. Given the information below, I’m not sure that is warranted:

I was being blasted with blank emails, to the point that my hosting service shut the site down due to server load. I’ve not re-activated this plugin because of this issue was hoping that someone would have the same issue and post a fix…. and here you are!
