I’m having the same problem, and have been for some time.

We just launched a site we’ve been working on where, from day one, we would get that error often. Not all the time, but at least 50% of the time. It’s still happening, so I set out to test it.

I just finished setting up a test site using only WordPress 4.7, WooCommerce, and PayPal Powered by Braintree plugins with the plain Storfront theme. On this site, I’m getting this error every single time.

I set up a fresh installation of WordPress, WooCommerce, and the WooCommerce PayPal Powered by Braintree plugin, and the option is named correctly. It appears to have been a problem with my installation from before.

When you say fresh install, do you mean an installation with just WooCommerce, PayPal Powered by Braintree and the Twenty Sixteen theme?

Not quite that clean, but I’ll do that and report back. Might be a couple of days before I can get to it.

The hosted fields weren’t working, as in the container divs were there, but the fields were never generated.

I checked the option name on a fresh install, and it was the same situation.

As I mentioned before, changing the option name in the plugin file did the trick, but we all know that’s a bad idea.
