I have access through my ftp so I can modify stuff back. Reading through the forums now if anyone has a link please let me know.

Guys this has been fixed with the latest update. see my site https://www.donaldjenkins.com

    How to.
    Go to Apperance
    Go to Widgets
Side Bar, do the drop down for Nexgen
Look at the “Show” section and do the drop down Thumbs vs Orginal Image.
    Pick Original Image
Set Thumb Size to something like 100 by 100 or bigger/smaller depending on your side bar settings.

@mrmist… dude that code sucked and brought my site down… well for a few minutes anyways. Maybe I put it in the wrong place but it basically made the page blank to enclude the wordpress login page… luckely I had access to my ftp and went in and changed the file back.

I’m also having issues with the “manual refresh”. I dont want people to come to my site and have to refresh and who ever said that people do this normally is total BS. I never refresh any webpage I visit and expect it to be updated when I pull it up.

Anyone with a brain got an answer to this?

    Forum: Installing WordPress
    In reply to: not loading

Ian im not a Moderator but had a tough time with wp.

But here are a few suggestions.

    1. Switch to a linux server (solves a lot a problems for wp)
    2. Start from scratch (i saved my old website on my desktop and started over)
    3. Get to know your helpdesk team from your host server because you will be spending a lot of time with them and most of the problems normaly are on the host side settings.

Key words for this forum that you will have problems with after its up.
“permalinks” (if you are on a windows server its complex, linux its easy)
“Akismet” (plugin to protect from span) you need to login to this site to find the key. If you search

Other then that have fun finding a template that matches what you are trying to do. WP 2.7 is still a little new but most of the bugs have been worked out but the plugins templates need time to catch up.

Sorry this is not a direct answer but i think you are as lost as I was 2 months ago. https://www.donaldjenkins.com ?? still building but beat all the tough parts.

Hey guys, having the spinning arrow problem My blog

I’ve read the fact page and the forum.

The spinning arrow icon shows up once I submit a form, but then nothing happens.
This is most probably due to a conflict between plugins. Try deactivating all other plugins.

Check – disabled all plugins still same problem.

    Below is the code.

Windows server, not sure if AJAX on but looking into that next. Could this be a problem on the server/host side?

    Thanks in advance

So in short guys if you are on a windows sever there is no possible way to use permalinks and forget what everyone tells you on the forum.. just use the default setting (which i did from the start and it still wansnt working).. however my host helpdesk person changed some setting on the dashboard to make it work.. still have no clue what they did different from the start.

    Solution 4… thanks for nothing:)

My host is saying its still something to do with the Dash board settings.

Also I found out the server I’m on is windows so dont think the .htaccess file will work (or will it?) my host said it wont. IX Webhosting is the company.

Please let me know if I’m going in the right direction and any thoughts you might have on the next step.

this is what my host provider said

: But these links should be configured by the admin

: If you can access your admin panel in wordpress you should there correct your links

I can not find out where on the dashboard to change these settings.

    Tried Links/Pages etcs..

Thanks again for your help in advance!

Ok Michael I have https://www.donaldjenkins.com working now but the comments section is still not working. The server is on windows and I was told .htaccess will not work.

    Solution 2
Some hosts allow you to make a change, via their hosting control panel, to the DirectoryIndex. It’s typically described as Indexes or Index documents, but may also require you to type something like
    DirectoryIndex index.html index.htm index.php
or specify index.php as an index type file.

I did this and tried 3 different combinations all 3 each one .. tested still no luck.

I’ve been online with my host helpdesk and they dont know how or what the problem is?

can you take a look again?

    Thread Starter zartage

    (@zartage)

Thanks Michael, but WP is set up on /blog/index.php you missed out the index part I think? or maybe you are saying it should be /blog only?

this is the link that I can see from both my pc’s https://donaldjenkins.com/blog/index.php

    The main page is working.

Currently I have a html site running https://www.donaldjenkins.com and dont want take it down or change the index file until I get WP up and running.

I kept the WP folders all the same just made a folder called “blog” on directory then input all off the WP stuff.

The index works but are you saying all of the code needs to go from the root director? for example it should look like the below?
    https://www.donaldjenkins.com/blog (index page)
    https://www.donaldjenkins.com/about
    https://www.donaldjenkins.com/photos etc..

    can you confirm?

Think I found what i was looking for on the dashboard.

    >Settings
    >>Writings
Scroll down to the bottom to see this

    Update Services
When you publish a new post, WordPress automatically notifies the following site update services. For more about this, see Update Services on the Codex. Separate multiple service URLs with line breaks.

Not sure how it works yet but will play around and post again.. sure there is a post like this somewheres but cant find it
