Could the problem be with the size of the file for the picture? Do you know what the maximum size of the photo file should be for the side bar?

I have read all of the posts relating to my question of “HOW TO ADD A PHOTO INTO THE SIDE BAR” and have tried to add the code someone suggested to a text widget. Nothing seems to work. If I add the code to the text widget, only the code shows up and not the picture. I added both the code given above and the picture file code and the same problem occurs. Isn’t there anyone out there that can explain in a very detailed way how to accomplish this?
