Ah. Got it. I had to set full write permissions as indicated by Tools > Site Health and it worked. Thanks so much for your time!!
I did that and now get this upon clicking update:
Update Failed: The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.
I CHMODed all EDD folders to 777 and it still didn’t work. Should I CHMOD all folders AND files?
I don’t use a cache plugin. My server uses OPcache. Yes it says there is an update for EDD. When I click it, the FTP window pops up which I can’t use as it doesn’t work.
Okay, I did that and it still shows 2.9.17. I already uploaded all the 2.9.20 files to my server, over-writing as needed….
It’s all good. I directly edited the template and removed the code that displays categories so it simply doesn’t show anything now. That’s fine as there are only 2 download categories and I have links in place so it’s really easy to find them.
Thanks! ??
Cool, thanks! Is there some way I can contact you privately? My site is adult, and I don’t want to share the URL publicly.
I came to this conclusion as well and have contacted the maker of the theme. Thanks so much for your time!

In reply to: [wpForo Forum] a freshly installed WPforo NOT showing up on any pages!?Do you have an .htaccess file in your site’s root directory? If so, delete it, then reset your permalinks forcing WordPress to reproduce this file. (can’t exactly remember how, I deleted my whole site after an unrelated issue).

In reply to: [wpForo Forum] a freshly installed WPforo NOT showing up on any pages!?Fixed it. .htaccess issue. Needed to reset permalinks then let WP auto create the .htaccess file. ??

In reply to: major error after upgrading 4.6.1 –> 4.7.1Okay got it. Thanks! Everything updated (plugins too), except for WP Foro forums. Still working on that. I appreciate your time! ??

In reply to: major error after upgrading 4.6.1 –> 4.7.1That’s exactly what I did, manual upgrade. I deleted all files according to the upgrade document, then uploaded the new files except wp-config.php and wp-content, etc., and it fried my site. ??

In reply to: how do I clear my cache? (plugin NOT updating!!!)I don’t run any caching plugins. I did add a line to wp-config.php to enable “advanced caching” as recommended in my WP admin. I don’t use Cloudflare or memcache etc.
I don’t see how this is related. Isn’t there supposed to be a “clear cache” option? And I still don’t know why that particular plugin won’t upgrade. ??

In reply to: major error after upgrading 4.6.1 –> 4.7.1I deactivated all my plugins before I attempted the upgrade.
I renamed .htaccess and got the same error. I also removed some lines from it that were added by Wordfence and still nothing.
I then renamed my current theme’s folder, and it simply said “Theme not found” and that was it.
Here is my server error log:
[Mon Jan 23 03:30:28.774929 2017] [fcgid:warn] [pid 15634] [client 173.171.34.1:49610] mod_fcgid: stderr: PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare unregister_setting() (previously declared in /var/www/vhosts/zoldos.net/httpdocs/wp-includes/option.php:1939) in /var/www/vhosts/zoldos.net/httpdocs/wp-admin/includes/plugin.php on line 1808

In reply to: how do I clear my cache? (plugin NOT updating!!!)Yes. WP Foro 1.02 was already installed, so I manually upgraded it to 1.11 (I uploaded the new files via FTP). But in my WP Admin, it still shows that plugin as 1.02.
Any ideas?
