Client’s hosting service changed us to PHP 5.3.2.1 in attempt to get rid of this annoying problem that other plugins don’t see to be afficted by.

The 3 settings confirm as you have above. But the slashes are still there . .

Have deactivated, deleted and reinstalled but no change.

Client could work around this for now by avoiding apostrophes (!) but how to get rid of the warning notice using up valuable space on the dashboard???

Yes, standard hash symbol used.

Something odd here:
– Decativated, deleted then reinstalled and reactivated.
– Entered a series of values and everything set up OK.
– However, after editing the series, reverted to blank box.

Unfortunately this is on a client’s site – very stable and oink free.

But they won’t pay us for time spent dillying around so have had to leave it and use something else.

Damn – we had the Calendar/Events on a client’s WP subsite pretty well sorted; after churning through all the other plugins we found AEC 1.02. Nice.

The apostrophe issue remained but they just avoided this punctuation.
Turning off Magic Quotes was tested but this prevented file uploads on their main CMS site, so was reinstated.

Trustingly, I updated to AEC 1.04 assuming (!) that the apostrophe issue would be solved. No such luck – and the annoying message remained at the top of the plugins page so deleted and reverted to 1.02.

Hello ?? Now of course their calendar entries are gone, as the plugin or WP has no way to retain these in the DB while deleting the plugin files.
Urggh – a dive into the database to restore – but this has not gone flawlessly either.

A great plugin – but how about making it a paid one and using the income to make it truly head and shoulders above the rest?

Response is appreciated – very professional.

Installed and activated fine.

The warnings no longer appear, but unable to make the settings [Users allowed to audit] stick. Tick the applicable boxes OK but upon ‘Update options] the boxes reappear unticked.

And in the Post edit screen the Content Audit box says ‘No categories’

Would check for conflict with other plugins but it’s on a client’s site and they won’t pay us for experimenting !

Good to see a developer looking after his product – prompt response is appreciated.
Yes, your plugin does have some plus points – namely config options and
styling is easy to change, as above.

With ‘Subheading’ installed the second example you quoted worked fine, but when ‘Subtitle 360’ (and modified code; example1) was tested, the modified styling did not show up on the post.

We use Genesis on all sites, with Simple Hooks plugin which makes things really easy. So the snippet above just gets pasted into the ‘show after title’ box.

No, I’m a writer and editor thrown in the deep end when our PHP guy went off to your part of the world, and I also look after some sites he worked on.

WP has come a long way in a couple of years but the weak link is half-baked or obsolete plugins (not meaning ‘Subheading’) that can use up hours of valuable time, and should be deleted from the WP supository.

I see what you mean – where your subtitle appears, it doesn’t even look like a subheading.

I just spent a couple hours trying to sort out vertical alignment for the Subheading plugin – there’s a big gap between it and the byline; no amount of Firebugging will reveal the cause.

With regret, had to give up and install Subtitle 360, which delivers nice tight spacing; if you’re not dependent on h5 or h6 styles, you can specify in the (tiny!) index.php file and alter the CSS in style.css for your theme.

NB: Also tried:
KIA Subtitle: Didn’t display correctly.Poor documentation.
The Subtitle: Didnt work. Poor documentation.
Visual Subheading: Promising but quirky. HTML code shows up on a feature image slider. (!)

Clients don’t pay for endless tweaking, so the plugins that work well first time are the ones we recommend.

+1 to add this.

Also, the email the friend receives looks pretty barren and does not contain a clickable link.
Anyone else think this is essential?

QUERY: The ‘Email this post to a friend’ plugin sector is not well covered (disregarding online services which clients are becoming very resistant to) – any guides to other plugins or tweaks to do this elegantly?

The difference is, the original still works perfectly (despite no updates for quite a while) – and this one doesn’t.

This is the second plugin from this developer we’ve tried for a client that does not function and we probably won’t try any more.

Client requested more compact/better styled subtitles than we had with
the Subheadings plugin – Visual Subtitle is a very neat and elegant
solution – subtitles appear perfectly on post incl styling.

However, client’s theme is Genesis+child with feature slider – and for some reason Visual Subtitle blanks out the excerpt on the slider – and some HTML code appears superimposed on the slider graphic. Never seen this before.

@WebEndev: Did you use Genesis Simple Hooks to get around this problem?

Had ver 6.8 working perfectly – but got caught by allowing auto update from the plugins admin page; result: highlighting no longer worked.

Deleted and back to ver 6.8 – and damn me days, now the highlighting no longer works in Firefox; works erratically in Chrome.

A fast accurate search function is essential. This was the best search plugin – but it seems to have ongoing highlighting defects.

Anyone have similar issues?
