  • Well, I am also a paying customer for the Community Aggregator (as well a TEC Pro), since importing events is part of the issue.

So, I imported an event using the standard new event form provided by The Event Calendar. Worked fine.Better than CSV.

So, did not work on using a csv – actually, sometimes the import csv worked and sometime it did not work – by working I mean correctly storing the event to date and time.

I had different results with the import of the same file.

I then noticed when I selected Edit Event as the first action after import, i noticed a flash on the screen as the to time and date flashed correctly to be replaced by the incorrect to time and date.k I video this fleeting flash and have sent it to The Event Calendar Support.

But, if my first action after import was to Preview the Event, somehow the to time and date viewed properly, and thereafter stored properly.

So, the issue I am having as to time and date seens to relate to using the Edit Post initially. Since I need to review all “pending” posts, this is the norma course of action for a workflow.

So, when I say that the importer is correctly importing data to the SQL database, this is the reason. It then seems to be altered under certain cirumstances.

There are also some hidden “features” of importation including stripping codes from the import fields.

As to general issues, at least for the paid Community Aggregator, there could be a more robust importer – validating data (as does the Event Calendar Add Event Form), showing all rows, allowing import from excel, allowing selection of rows to import, allowing correction of data in preview screen, saving templates. This is even more important because Facebook has taken steps to inihibit download of their events. Nothing special as to importing to QuickBooks, as one example. Also, would be nice if Export was not just to XML, but also to CSV.

    Thanks for your hints.

    Further information:

I had purchased the added plugin from Event Calendar to allow submission by a Form
So I added a new event with the date start on one day at 10pm and ending the next morning at 2 AM. The import handled the dates correctly.

So, I may br wrong the the SQL database is recording the dates and times correctly when inputting by CSV. I guess there is a way to check that, but seems to me the error handling on the Event Calendar form should be dealing with this.

I have a backp file on Google Drive should Event Calendar support wish to access it.

I also note that the Submission Form has a drop down that acceses the venue and organizer names in the database. This capability should also be made available in the CSV input preview form.

I have been using the Classic Editor plug-in – it is activated.

The Block Editor has not been on every in TEC settings.

It is pretty clear to me, not an expert, that the latest version is having a hard time reading date and time from the SQL database. I am pretty sure it is in the database.

So, they should run the file creating the template for the “Back End” Post editor and see what is going on step by step and what could be messing up the End Date and End Time.

    Thanks.

May not be able to look at this for a few days. It is midnight Sunday and it is time to turn in.

I am not sure what you mean by “back-end screen”?

And not sure how to share screen-shots on this blog.

Anyway, I must have missed this but where do I select “classic mode”?

“Finally: My issues with date and time were also starting some 6 weeks ago so I betcha that a new version was uploaded that might throw things off unless they are very precicely set according to their guideline.”

I keep pointing this out to Tribe – seems obvious to me. But they say they cannot replicate the problem.

    Thanks.

P.S. – I have pro and importing is very important to me. Anything I grab off of Facebook goes into a excel sheet to be formatted correctly. So I take the Event Date and Time on Facebook and parse it into a useable format for import.

Thanks for yor putting your time into this.

I did try your csv and I the new file still messes up the date since the event started on one day and finished the next day. On the Edit Event Page, is diplayed the event end date the same as the event start date. The Event End Time was 8:00 PM instead of 1:00 AM.

First, you have to understand that the import file I used was the Sample csv file provided by Tribe. I did not invent anything. I expect that a sample CSV file provided by Tribe would work and that is why I used it.

Second, there is not problem using Excel to create CSV files; indeed, as for many, Excel allows the quick inspection o the data and parsing and reformatting. Save as CSV “double quotes” everything. Anway, I inspected the csv file in sublime or a text editor. It has double quotes and commas. I have been using Excel for years to format data and CSV files – just have to get used to it and learn about Formulas and Formatting. Anwyay, I used your data without touching Excel.

Requiring a special order of fields is sort of odd. Also, until I started having problems, the csv import would create a new venue or organizer, if not existing. But, does not matter. I control both in Dashboard. I am going to add a validation or look up table in Excel – maybe you do that in FileMaker. Anyway validating the venues and organizers helped in this file and imported properly. Still need to figure out the featured image.

So your suggestions works except for the dates. Does not work for events starting and finishing on different days.

And. for events ending and finishing on the same day, the end day is one day earlier than the start day in the Post Editor.

Oddly enough, the Dashboard list of Events shows the correct start and end date – so it seems the data is correct (maybe) in the sql database, but that The Events Calendar is having a problem extracting the data accurately for the Event Edit Post form, which of course creates the final product. I need to show From and To hours – very important.

The first issue is getting the dates right. So using your code did not work for dates.

Having to format time codes down to second is not consistent with Tribe documentation, but, oh well, with TEXT(A1,”hh:mm:ss” easy to do in Excel.

I have imported data to a number of other applications such as Quickbooks, using third party importers. Lots of nice features including templates, showing ALL rows being imported, corrections in preview, validating data etc., etc.

I am using Twenty-Seventeen and then tested in Twenty Nineteen – removing plug-ins. I do not use Guttenberg. No fancy formatting.

The importing was working for me 6 weeks ago, then it stopped little by little. I am using the version 5.XX of Event Calendar Pro since I only purchased this in January and saw no point to use a superseded version

Thanks for your help and the time you put in – but did not work for me.

    Alan

Did not work for me – created even bigger mess. I used the data from the sample events calendar csv import file. I then used excel and converted times and dates to the suggested format, and converted to text. But, it turns out really not to help for when an excel sheet is save to csv, it is double quoted anyway – So ended up with multiple quadruple quotes. So, I was always double quoting. Anyway, am not a developer and this is a basic function and the ability to import is critical Do not have the time or patience to hand input everything, or the time or patience to resolve this – 25 hours in the last ten days.

Maybe it is a caching problem. Dunno. Maybe it is a WordPress issues. Dunno. Also it seems that Tribe or WordPress verifies imports and strips many html character. Not documented. Seems to me that the preview should validate any entries that are not conforming, instead of importing, and then laboriously opening up each Event Post. So for now, does not import many other fields as well.

This is the double quoting by Excel to CSV:

Importing by CSV in recent weeks has gone to completely unworkable, and I am not the only one with this issue – it started with dates and times, then would not import venues, would not import featued images. Only will import the first few columns in your sample csv file. I stripped all my plugins and went to 2017. Still problems.

I thought it was fixed, but spoke too soon.

Please put a top-level developer on this issue. Please. Please. I will give you access to my system.

    Alan

I sm having the very same problem which started a few weeks ago. This is really a problem if the event ends aftr midnight. Sometimes the date for ending is less than the date starting. I have tried every one of the date and time format suggested by Event Calendar.

Event Calendar says they cannot replicate this.

Am having many other import problems and half the fields in the EVent Calendar sample csv file do not import. Always had a problem importing Featured Image. One day it works, next day it does not. Suddenly venue stopped importing.

This is the sample file and includes all day.

I have spent so many hours on this. Anway, I am happy to know I am not the only one having this issue.
