Unfortunately, the alerts still aren’t displaying. I don’t want to update to the latest version of wordpress because that might break some site customizations. Is there anything else I can try?

That link tells me how to move between wp.com sites and wp.com to self-hosted. I want to move from self-hosted to wp.com.
