    Hello,
I’m setting up the security settings and I’m on the last stage “secure site” and it stops on the “configure settings” – it keeps loading but don’t want to progress.
    What can be the reason.
I have wordpress 5.9.3 and 8.1.2 ithemes security plugin.

  • If the WP_DEBUG constant is currently enabled in the wp-config.php file try and disable it. No guarantees though ??

    WP_Debug is not enabled.

Same problem for me, and I’m working on multiple domains with multiple different themes. All of them run stuck on either step 1 or 2 of finishing the initial setup.
There also seems to be no way to circumvent this step and just manually setup.

Install WP-Rollback and go back to version 8.0.2 and you can now finish setup

Same here and with the same solution. Tried to debug, “define(‘ITSEC_DEBUG’, true); in wp-config”, but no solution so far.

Try (if not already) clearing your browser’s cache.

Sorry no solution. Also the UI Tweaks setting “Hide security menu in Admin bar” the save button keeps animating. If I refresh the page, the setting is on, but security menu is still there.

If I rollback to previous version everything is working fine.

I’ve tried both free and pro versions of the plugin, but did not encounter any issues with the setup/onboarding process. It seems like the issues above are caused by plugin conflict. You could try deactivating all your site’s plugins except iTSec and re-enable the plugins one-by-one to catch the culprit.

New WordPress install. Activated Ithemes. Doing the configuration of Ithemes on the end I get these errors:

    You are probably offline
Can’t save user groups, you are probably offline.

After that none of the config is saved.

I can give access to this environment, send me an e-mail to get access.

@tuukie when you deleted and re-installed iTSec, have you confirmed that all itsec related tables were also removed from your database? Also, have you checked with your hosting provider on what errors are firing on the server logs?

@shanedelierrr My hoster enabled options as http_method and it works.

This changed just after version 8.0.0 and this is disabled by default on all my servers.

The OPTIONS method provides a list of the methods that are supported by the web server, it represents a request for information about the communication options available on the request/response chain identified by the Request-URI.
The OPTIONS method may expose sensitive information that may help an malicious user to prepare more advanced attacks.

So for a security plug-in I need to enable the options http_method ?

Why? Can this be changed ?

@tuukie I think this issue is similar to this forum discussion. It seems that some environments like yours blocks the http methods.

As mentioned by @devfirst there, you could try to change your server’s configuration to override the request method – https://developer.www.ads-software.com/rest-api/extending-the-rest-api/routes-and-endpoints/#http-methods

    @tuukie

    (Better late than never;-))

To better understand why the OPTIONS request method may be needed read the REST API Batch Framework in WordPress 5.6 post on make.www.ads-software.com (salient detail: post author is the same as the iTSec plugin developer).

Trust me, Timothy knows what he is doing.
