    Hi,
We are experiencing an extremely high server CPU usage and

The following errors appear in the CPanel ‘Errors’ section, please advise what could be causing this issue.

The CPU usage also appears to be very high when using the plugin, is there a way of reducing the usage?

  • Hi @wacagraphics,

Thank you for getting in touch and our apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Unfortunately, as we do perform various asynchronous storage calls during a chat it is possible that these request may increase the resource usage on the server.

With that said, it is possible to improve this by disabling the use of our servers, which enables a local server instance instead and adjusting the ping speeds for the polling loops within the settings.

This may cause chat messages to take longer to deliver as no real-time sockets will be opened. However, as you will be in control ping rate of the locally hosted server, you are able to reduce the impact of resources being used on your server.

If you would like one of our developers to take a closer look at your site, please get in touch with us here: https://wp-livechat.com/contact-us/ – We can then better evaluate your set up and advise the best solution to the issue from our side.

    Thank you for your time.

I also deduced that this plugin was the cause of excessively high CPU usage. On Google Cloud Platform, where I host my sites, the date of the jump in usage coincided with this plugin’s installation date. I just removed the plugin and will monitor the usage to see if it decreases. Given the information gleaned in this thread, if I were a betting-woman I would wager that it will return to pre-installation levels of CPU usage.
