Hello I try to import demo but I get the following message

An error occurred while fetching file from: https://..demo_import/demo2/demo2.xml!
Reason: http_request_failed – cURL error 56: Failure when receiving data from the peer.

Could you tell me how to fix this error?

    Thank you so much!

    Hi,

this looks like server side restriction. Please contact your hosting support and ask them about this “cURL 56: Failure when receiving data from the peer” error.

They will know what to do.

    Take care!

    Hi Capuderg
I have heard back from the hosting company (HeartInternet.co.uk) and this is their reply

‘This is a loopback error on the server.

Our servers prevent scripts making HTTP (port 80) connections back to the same server that they’re running on, as policy.

This is done to prevent the possibility that mis-configured scripts could enter, essentially, an “infinite loop”, making call-backs to themselves. Such a situation is extremely detrimental to server performance, and would negatively impact other users also on this shared server.

Unfortunately we are not able to lift this block on a per-site or per-scriptbasis, so you will need to see if you are able to reconfigure the script (or contact the script authors for assistance doing this), or use an alternative script that doesn’t require HTTP requests to its own server.

Alternatively, you could use the full URL to connect to the peer.’

Could you tell me how to fix this error?
    Thank you so much!

    Hi,

you could download the import files manually (contact your theme author for the import files) and then use the “manual import” in the OCDI plugin page (the link to switch to the manual import is on the right side).

But since you can’t download the files from another server, you won’t be able to download the import images as well, so your import will have no images…

There really is no easy solution to this issue. This is the first time I see, that the hosting has this kind of restriction. Is switching to another hosting an option?

    Take care!
