Hi! My site is hosted on cloudways, which provides and install the free SSL certificate for me. So my site is already on https with a lock. Then do I still need this Really Simple SSL plugin? Does Really Simple SSL do something extra to enhance security?
    Thanks.

    Hi @isaaccheung,

while Cloudways provides your SSL certificate, Really Simple SSL will still configure your site for SSL by adding a redirect to https://, updating your home/site-url to https:// and by automatically fixing any mixed content on your website.

    Hi Mark,

Thanks for the quick response. But my website already redirects to https:// without the Really Simple Plugin. When I type my website https://mywebsite.com, it redirects automatically to https://mywebsite.com. I have only installed cloudways’ SSL certificate and it knows this redirection. So I wonder why people still need really simple SSL to redirect to https://

Apart from the redirect, the plugin makes sure there is no mixed content on your site, ensures cookies are set securely, and the rest api is only accessible through https.

Additionally you can set the redirect with htaccess, if possible on your environment. Below the hood the plugin makes sure that wp-config.php and site url/home url are all configured correctly for ssl.

There are also several checks to see if you have installed the recommended security headers, including instructions how to configure these manually.

    Hope this answers your questions!
