• Just installed this free version, LOVE it. However, on my site, the titles of my Etsy products are so truncated they are unhelpful to customers — it only shows about 10 characters or so, which is really confusing because people don’t know what anything is.

Any way to change this? Is this different in the paid version? Thanks.

And/or can this be modified in the extended version of the plugin? It’s pretty important… customers have no idea what I’m selling, as the product titles are completely chopped short! Thanks…

    Hey Cowgirly,
I take care of the tickets that come into the premium version of Etsy360, I might be able to help you as well. Could I have the link to your site so I can see what you are referring to?

Thanks, Abbyrae! You can see the super-truncated product titles here:

And, well, I’m launching tomorrow, so any ideas you have are much appreciated! ??

So, figure maybe if I knew anything at all about PHP I could edit the plugin file: etsy360-shop-listing.php

and change something in here to remove the “truncate” bit:
    $content .= ‘<div class=”item-title-home”>url . ‘” style=”color: ‘ . get_option(‘accent_color’) . ‘”>’ . truncate($d->title) . ‘</div>’;

    Anyone have any ideas?

So, I just deleted the word “truncate” there, and it worked, kinda! Problem is that then the product titles are so long that they push the next product down to the following line — so it’s only a long list of products, instead of a grid. Screenshot here: https://stitcharama.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Screen-Shot-2015-02-01-at-6.57.22-PM.jpg

Any way to have full product titles (line-wrapped) appear in a grid format?

At this point the free version is limited to only so many characters. I can give you a promo code for the extended version of the plug-in if you are ready to move into that direction. I leave the coding to the developer, haha, you would be in big trouble if I tried helping you in that department! Hope you are having a great day and congratulations on your launch!

Thanks Abbyrae — so the premium version will show the full product title?

I don’t want to mislead you so here is a link to the demo site that will show you what the paid version looks like https://www.etsy360.com/shop-demo/?current_page=1

If you navigate through the pages you will see that some titles are longer than others. Also, by clicking on the item you can see on the detail page that this seller has super long descriptions for her titles.

Thanks — that demo site is exactly representative of the problem I’m facing. I’d appreciate if you’d submit this as a feature request to your tech/product team — there’s no reason to truncate our product titles. It’s important to have the whole product title in our shop listings, we carefully create those titles to be representative of the products, and the fact that they’re cut so short makes Etsy360 impossible for me to use. Otherwise I LOVE this plugin and love the shopping cart feature — it’s perfect, except that the truncated titles mean my shop is way too confusing for customers. Thanks…

We did offer the ability to manipulate truncation for some time, however, it seemed to confuse a lot of members, so we eliminated that feature. I will absolutely let the developer know that this is something that should be revisited. We are always grateful for feedback about what our members want/need for the site and generally add them shortly after the suggestion. Have a great night,
    Abbyrae

    Hi,
I am having exactly the same problem in my “shop” on (www.bellisful.com) and was just wondering if there has been any development on how to extend the length of the product descriptions?
    Many thanks,
    Angela
