Sidebar link to first (oldest) post?

I would like to put a new widget in the right sidebar of Atahualpa, under the archives list. It would say something like “First post” and link directly to the oldest post, shown either on its own page or at the bottom of the loop. A good alternative location would be at the bottom of the center column, between the “Earlier entries” and “Older entries” buttons. (Hope I’m expressing all this correctly.)

Is there a newbie-friendly way to add this?
