• Hi all,

I have had my WordPress page up for 5 or more years and the download links have always worked, the page linked https://coder-tronics.com/msp430-timer-pwm-tutorial/ has 3 download links listed under the Example Code headings.

The download files tend to be zipped C programming source code and for some reason clicking on them no longer works in Chrome, Edge displays the file as unsafe and if I open in a new tab on my Android phone they work.

I suspect this isn’t related to WordPress but thought I would check and possibly some new Chrome/Edge and other browser feature to protect users from malicious C code? One possible long winded route is to have all the files on Github and then have a link to the source code I guess, but open to other ideas that will require less moving around.

    Thanks,
    Ant

  • The link target for the downloads is a https://-URL. However, the web page is loaded via https://. Chrome and also Chrome-based Edge block such connections, so you can’t click the links.

The solution would be that you write the download links with https://.

By the way, I see another problem: you have embedded a Youtube video in the upper part of the article. But embedded incorrectly. It is loaded by object element which does not work at all with Firefox. You would have to update this integration.
