In reply to: Page “Updating failed” message in 5.0-RC3-43967OK – going through my sites I haven’t had a problem where a site has upgraded and I’ve then enabled Classic editor.
One site that had been installed but not worked on I did an update from 4.9.8 to v5 and then went into the default post, made a change and clicked Update and got the same “Updating failed” message. The site has 4 WordPress themes that are up to date Twenty Fifteen to Twenty Nineteen and all plugins are disabled.
In Chrome Console I am getting script failures with a 500 error ie:
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 () /wp-json/wp/v2/taxonomies?context=edit&_locale=user

In reply to: Page “Updating failed” message in 5.0-RC3-43967OK – there was an update overnight but that didn’t fix it either. I could go back and start from scratch but I’m concerned that if I did have content and the site was live I’d be in a difficult situation ??

In reply to: Page “Updating failed” message in 5.0-RC3-43967Hi Mika, I don’t think there’s anything that sets a custom role. The only installed plugins are:
– Activity Log
– Akismet Anti-Spam
– Coming Soon Page & Maintenance Mode by SeedProd
– GEO my WP
– Google Tag Manager for WordPress
– Wordfence Security
– WordPress Beta Tester
– Yoast SEOOne thing though is this was installed in August via Softaculous if that makes any difference.
Hope that helps.

In reply to: [List category posts] Table prefix if not wp_Hi – I could do but I can’t see which branch in GitHub to get started on adding a Pull . Request.
It worked for me by also ticking the box to say Posts under Post Types

In reply to: [BuddyDrive] Cannot upload *any* filesHi – I’ve seen mention of a new version of the plugin – do you have an approximate date please?

In reply to: [BuddyDrive] Cannot upload *any* filesHi @mrpritchett
The site was actually on an old version of WP (around 4.5) when it stopped working and we updated to the latest version in case that was the issue. We can’t roll back PHP though presumably it would be easier to check for deprecated functions?
Thanks
Dan

In reply to: [BuddyDrive] Cannot upload *any* filesThanks for the positive response. I understood BuddtDrive had worked in the past – would this be a PHP version issue? I know I will be asked what else we can do, so is there a workaround till a fix becomes available.

In reply to: [BuddyDrive] Cannot upload *any* filesNo problem. I just checked and I get the error in Buddy Drive both logged into the front end and via the Dashboard.

In reply to: [BuddyDrive] Cannot upload *any* filesHi
I could change my profile background OK, and upload files into Media without error. But clicking the “New File” button in Buddy Drive and selecting a file which was 70k in size, I get “File is empty. Please upload something more substantial. This error could also be caused by uploads being disabled in your php.ini or by post_max_size being defined as smaller than upload_max_filesize in php.ini.”
So in answer to the question, it appears to be only Buddy Drive which is throwing an error.
